I just received news that FAO Schwarz is coming to select Macy doors throughout the East division. One of them is not the flagship. I understand that is may be because FAO Schwarz is on 57th Street and if someone wishes to go there, they can just take transportation. But why leave out the flagship?

To make matters worse, Parkchester is getting FAO Schwarz. Considering how ghetto they are, there may be a special sale in there, such as the "buy one take five free" sale.

All I have to do is drop them in toys at Lenox Square and run over to Bloomies or Neimans! A few minutes of peace and quiet! Smile LOL

I agree with you about Parkchester. It is the worst one I have seen. And yet, it lingers on. I guess just to make it seem that Macy's does not discriminate and stuff.

Concerning the second floor, I wish I knew. I want to know when the luggage department will finally be done. I miss using all the escalators. They also repaired the up escalator during the construction, so hopefully, that noise that sounded like Kayako from Ju-On/The Grudge will no longer be around.

I wonder, is anyone from the North region? I'm wondering about a carton we had that belonged to one of the stores and was somehow sent to Herald Square. The entire crew was going crazy looking for this small box as though it contained the ark of the covenant or something.

I'm just wondering if they'll play that annoying song over and over again like they do in their stores.

I never thought of that. I guess the "spare room" in the subsub basement could be utilized in that manner after the abandoned bathroom is filled up with long forgotten customers.

Isn't funny that FAO closed their Lennox Square store during their bankruptcy and now they are reopening at the same mall inside the old Rich's flagship?

I do find it funny. On a tangent note, I went to Best Buy yesterday to buy something. Considering economic times, I find it interesting to see how some areas have to money to renovate their stores (still wonder when the famous library in Bryant Park will finally be done since I still see that covering over parts of the facade.)

Believe me! This a good thing! Working in a toy department is not fun! I repeat! NOT FUN! Parents leaving their kids for sales people to babysit, kids destroying the department, kids having bathroom accidents! Speaking from experience, working a toy store ranks up there to hellish jobs! Doh!

We are barely able to take any field trips... diesel is so expensive! 45 Kids + 3 teachers + chaperones means we need at least 2 busses.

My kids' school almost cancelled their field trips last year. They sent home a survey with the option of a) parent drivers, b) parents paying for the gas, or c) not taking the trips. We ended up with parents paying for the gas. Our kids need field trips!

Big time! Do you know they denied my request to go to the Verizon store so they could lean on phones!!!!!

We are in an area where they couldn't afford to do that if they wanted. to. Field trips are very restrictive here. I wish I could take the kids to the aquarium. Alas, not in a million years.

I hear they are cracking down on it big time in Boston - people were leaning on their cell phones in thongs for hours a day! Macy's even had to start selling matching thongs for peoples cell phones so they would match.

Absolutely pitiful to think that parents treat certain areas as babysitting spots. There are no toys in my department, but I've seen them playing with the visual related props. I'm glad shoes does not use mannequins anymore. Otherwise, they would still be playing with their hair. There are still the bootweights, and the sign blocks though.

There were kids running all around while their mom stood at the register, and I just KNEW that it was only a matte of time...and then BAM! The kid hit his head so hard that I could hear it at the register in the next department! I don't know why parents let their kids run wild in the store.

In my day (I sound old,) we were not allowed to run around in a store. We were to be at our best behavior when shopping for clothes. We had to look presentable and be well behaved in the store--and we shopped at Alexanders! If we were buying shoes, our socks had to be clean and free of holes. Now, what has happened to manners? I guess it went the same route as morality in some areas.

One time while walking through Castner Knott my brother and I started ripping the price tags off of everything we walked past. I thought my mum was going to kill us. We were expected to behave like little gentlemen while we were out in public.

Some parents just... Well as they put in Gone With The Wind

"Quite Frankly my Deer, I just don't give a damn" attitude.

It unnerves me to no end to be in a store and there be a screaming baby. My brother and I were both escorted out of the store and spanked. No exceptions. Course i am the one that my daddy had to take out of Kmart. The entire way out of the store I scream "I didn't mean to piss you off daddy"!

I know my children will behave. It is uncalled for when parents just don't care.

Yes, it is getting out of hand. Of course, the kids can't wear thongs, but to take away the joy of cell phone leaning all together is just cruel.
BTW, now we have cell phones that come in a package with a matching thong for every day of the week, so you won't have to worry about not having a matching thong when you want to lean on your phone.

The "prop" in this case was a wrap stand. Ouch. Those things are so pesky.
