Does your store have any exceptional attendance policy for the holiday period?
I saw a printed sheet saying it was from Nov. 23 - Dec. 27. Not missing any days and only (1) half-tardy was allowed. Get two days off.
Wondered if anyone heard of this.

Yes, heard something about it but didn't pay any attention to it, just like I don't pay any attention to anything else Macy's says!

Not at our store. In the four years I've been there, I've called in sick maybe 4 or 5 times. Attendance excellance is under rated. We had too many people calling in during the holidays which really sucked. We didn't hire enough people to begin with and when the few call in, it makes it very difficult to do the job.

What's a half-tardy?
Anyway, I was on time everyday, and did not miss any days and I didn't get anything! We did have tons of call outs, though. I blame that on the wages that Macy's is paying. Sorry if I offend anyone, but IN MY OPINION, and based on MY EXPERIENCE, people who make more take their jobs more seriously, and don't call out as much. Also, it seems that the "less serious" (for lack of better term) people fill these spots b/c the pay is too low for better help.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

A tardy is 6 minutes late. So, we're figuring a one-half tardy must be 3 minutes (?). HR is trying to deny the paper exists; but, there are copies around headed "2008 Exceptional Attendance Policy".

As I said in other threads; HR is not the workers friend.

Yes, the exceptional attendance for the period between Thanksgiving and Xmas exists. I'm full time and have received 3 extra days for the last 3 years. I think that part time assoc's get 2 extra days if the criteria is met. This is probably one of those situations in which former May Co. stores do not get the same compensation as legacy Macy stores.

I am not in a legacy store and know this policy exists in my store because other employees were working on getting these extra days! Not sure if it is the same but something like it. I don't pay much attention to this stuff.

It's good to hear that all stores are included in the holiday exceptional attendance program

We got the memo. One of our managers tried to tell a merchandise handler that he would only be getting one day because he is DPT. I showed him the memo which said otherwise.

Well we didn't get anything in my store. NOTHING. I think I will ask when I'm getting my 3 days for perfect attendance!

yes....exceptional attendance days or perfect attendance days can be accrued in stores that are both macy and may legacy doors. if a certain region does not offer this incentive, i am not sure why, but i know all the stores in my area and surrounding areas do.
a full timer can earn 3 days and a part timer can earn 2. these days must be used before 7/31/09 or they would be lost. i think for furniture associates they date is different.

What?! Macy's is supposed to be a part of your life NormaRae! You're supposed to walk during the snowstorm and shovel your path just to be there for four hours of exploitation and abuse. After all, You Count, even though they will not offer any form of passage to and from your home. And of course, they won't even care if you catch a heart attack and die on the selling floor. They will probably try to revive you and say that you cannot die without opening another express credit. .
Last year, I got three days, even though I called out the Monday after Thanksgiving. I used a personal day, and it actually counted as permissible.
