Sorry it's been awhile since an update, but here goes:
Pilot Stores:
Macy's East-Menlo Pk, NJ,Hamilton, NJ,Greece Ridge, NY,Rosedale,MN,St. Charles, VA...Macy's West-Valley Fair, CA; Downey, CA; Hilltop, CA; Spokane Valley, WA; Bellingham, WA...Macy's Central Cumberland, GA; North Dekalb, GA; Regency, NC; Tuttle Crossing, OH Macy's Florida-Miami, Boynton Beach, The Falls,Wiregrass...Bloomies-Willowbrook, NJ; Lenox, GA, San Francisco
Sept. 9th- this will be announced to assoc. in these stores, implemented in March '09??- not really sure why the huge delay!
All remaining stores to be implemented between March '09-July '09.
Anyone hired in pilot stores after I think 9/18/08 will automatically have to use the "new" schedule system...not sure if at time of hire or in March '09.
All current associates will get to choose whether or not they want to change to the new schedules, if not, they keep what they have.
Biggest change- the new schedules, for FT associates, is 4 days!!! 28-32 hrs. per week. 2 lates per week. 1 weekend off every 4 weeks (as opposed to every 3 wks, as it is now in most locations for non commission). For PT associates (and I've seen nothing that seperates day from night part time in all the materials...makes me wonder if day part time is going away), you'd be also scheduled 4 days, 3-8 hours each day (the 3 hrs. is something new).
With all these "new" schedules, you'll be scheduled some of the time, and you'll have to pick up the remaining time through the register or online to "create" your schedule. Both scheduled time and picked up time can be in or out of your area! (mostly in your area, though) Exceptions to this are areas such as Better Sportswear, Fine Jewelry, Cosmetics, and commission in general, where all of your hours will be in your home area. When the schedule drops on Fridays, you'll have through Monday to do this. Then on Tue, the remaining hours will become available for anyone to pick up (oncalls, etc.)
More to come...

frank....thanks for the info.

schedules drop for the managers on friday. with the new schedules, the schedules will drop on friday for everybody???

do they drop early so some schedules can be editted?? for example, if there is a two three hour shifts, can they be combined to create one new shift??

frank, i have seen some info on the public drive but i did not see anything about full timers going to four days.

also, i am not surprised about dpt positions. it seems to me they have been slowly doing away with them.

wow. almost wish they would do it now instead of a year from now !! i work 4 days now. don't want to have to work more. would prefer 3 (short ones).

i can see a lot of F/Timers are gonna be upset. they'll be losing lots of hours.

way to go, macy's !! you really do count.

I don't understand why Macy's doesn't want PT day. The ladies that work PT day are usually mature, responsible ladies that stay and do a good job. It only makes sense. NPT attracts a younger crowd. Most moms and ladies do not want to be out at night, but would like to work during the day time, when their kids are at school, or their husband is at work.
The company that owned my store before Mayco had what they called a "working moms" schedule that was 10-2 weekdays, and NO weekends!
Now they make us work nights, when we are PT day. I always give my nights away.

Frank, will this new 4 day work week schedule apply to non-selling assoc's ? Are there any dept's which will still be on a 5 day work week?

I was hoping I would get a raise, and be able to stay home for the whole week.

So what happens when no one picks up the available times? Especially when we are open the crazy hours for holiday?

Okay, FOM, I'm holding you to it. Get ready for lots of 12 midnight shifts! I don't like doing the 6:45 AM shifts, either, so they're yours too.

-Yes, as far as I can tell, no time to edit!
-I will re-read the info, but I'm pretty sure I read it right, because the hours range was 28-32, which'd be right depending on if you're 7, 7.5 or 8 hrs/day

As far as I can tell, all of this is for sales only, as the idea is to increase the # of people on the floor when we're busiest...so it really wouldn't apply to stock...
Everyone, please keep in mind that all this info is for new hires only after mid-Sept. in pilot stores, and everyone else will have the choice to keep your current schedule, so there will be quite a few people who continue to work 5 day weeks.

-The same thing that happens now...the oncalls pick up the leftover hours!...however, you will have to work whatever is the criteria for your job type, so if you will have to fill your schedule, regardless of the shift or area that is available...

Angel,
Not quite sure of your question...do you mean where in the public drive is this info?
The 3 hour shift...I know a lot of people who will like this...a lot of our associates live within a couple of miles of our store, so gas isn't a big factor...the time will sure fly on that shift!!!!

For me, it would be a waste of time to get ready for work only to work 3 hours. Although I would like the shorter amount of time at Macy's. But if I'm gonna be there, I want it to count! I prefer 5-6 hour shifts.
If I was FT, I would choose the 4 day schedule. Much better than 5 days. Why don't they give PT a choice of having a 3 day schedule?

Frankone,
Could you explain what a public drive is? How do you excess the public drive? I am a PTN person working in a Macy's East store. I work FT at a very demanding job so do not mind working 4 hours shifts but if I have to work 3 hrs on a Sat & Sunday it is not worth the gas money - I live a 1/2 hour away from store.
