Why do you think this happens the Thursday before payday? Every time we get paid there are some type of problems with the site. I hate the fact that we can't look up our paychecks in advance.

Let's just hope this never has anything to do with the time it takes our pay to get deposited.

I am now really worried about this because my paycheck is not deposited into my bank account and normally, it is in there by now.

With Lowe's antiquated, 1970-ish computer system, is this a surprise to anyone?

There was a statement on the payroll login page that stated they were having problems and it would soon be fixed. Paycheck was up Thursday evening.

I knew someone would go there. Have you ever thought that it isn't that Lowe's wants to be green as much as they are more concerned with the cost of the paper check? I didn't have a choice someone committed checking account fraud and wiped out my account. I'm still waiting for the bank to investigate.

I agree with skibunny. The only way Lowes is green, is when it comes to money. Direct deposit does eliminate some paper usage, but it also eliminates JOBS (tellers) at the bank! Hug a tree and put someone out of a job! While hugging your beloved tree, I hope the resident ants in the bark crawls down your pants. Don't get me wrong, I do believe in resource conservation to a point, but not as a "religion". It's your turn, kick me in the bag.

It doesn't exactly eliminate tellers at a bank as ATMs have been doing that and I see the same numbers of banks etc.
If you like you can still get a check and cash it at most supermarkets..
We didn't see many town criers in the unemployment line when radio came around....radio didn't die when tv did...tv didn't when the internet came...

Did you notice that WAMU was sold? That the global financial industry is in the worst case since the Depression? Situations change for all of us. The world is changing so stating that it hasn't happened before isn't holding much weight for me right now. Just because it hasn't happened for many years doesn't mean that automation won't put people out of jobs.
Look at the self-check outs~less cashiers at Lowe's.

And it came back today and gas is how much lower than it was last month?
Self checkouts mean someone has to be trained on self checkout and stands there.
Cashiers can do other things. I've seen some move to the floor and move up.
Yes automation can drive people out of positions but that goes for many things.
There's a newspaper called the wantadvertiser that used to be near me. Craigslist pretty much put it under. there used to be morning and evening newspapers and now it's just one. There used to be a milkman and now I hardly see them. You used to have to crank your car and now they have automatic start. there used to be kids shining shoes on street corners and now I hardly see that many
Like it or not we're going to have less and less low level work. There are cashiers I bet that would love to go on the floor.
I used to do work at a place that sold work clothing. I did customer service and orders (orders were the first level the second dealt with returns) when they redesigned the website the call volume went down 20%. So I moved into collections...
I had another job where I counted corporate votes (actually my first) flipping papers and stacking according to yes, no, abstain. Well they made a machine that could do that faster. Just scanning the paper and then sorting it .
Sometimes jobs are just not needed as much. My father cut hair for a number of years with his own shop. It's now far more socially acceptible to be bald. Who needs a wig or toupee?
Unfortuatly the time of staying at one job 20-30 years are gone. It doesn't exist here, doesn't exist in mexico, not even in china!
People need to be able to change jobs. If it means training then so be it, if it means more education so be it.
Like it or not the idea of finding a easy job for money is mostly over.
