Lowes has nobody to answer to, thus the need for an Union. They could care less about the employees. Their only concern is themselves, profits and the the shareholders (not 401K people). 401K people do not exercise their power at stockholder meetings, thus they have no say. It is the high stakes shareholder, Lowes cares about. But that is the way of corporate America today. I have worked in Union and non-Union workplaces. I can honestly say that Union workplaces are better and definitely safer places to work for the employee, but usually the company is always trying to undermine the employee and the contract. I am sure there are those who say "Unions are bad, my Dad told me so". One bad expereince does not make all Unions bad! I have had disagreements with the Unions I was part of, but we are human and we will disagree. There are good companies to work for out there somewhere, but they are not corporations and definitely not Lowes. Look at the auto industry. They get billions from the taxpayers, then want to send the "old guys" out the door" with a severance package and replace them with workers getting 50% of their wages. If they get this done, will car prices drop? NO. Only their profits will go up along with dividends to the stockholders. In the end, the employee loses. All that Unions negotiated and fought for over the years are gone. Thanks for hearing me out. If there is a Union vote at the store I am at, I will vote UNION YES!
