Three major malls in my area have all announced in the last few months that they are shortening Sunday mall opening hours. The malls will be open 12-5 instead of 12-6. So guess what Macy's is doing.................... WE WILL STILL BE OPEN 11-7!!!! Of course I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Macy's could have gone to 10-9 on Sundays instead!

this is what else kills me about macy's....
literally EVERY DAY i read in the paper about all of these companies who are cutting hours of workers or making them take an extra unpaid week off !!!!
i would LOVE TO DO THAT !!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME ????
macy's is the only company i know of who keeps or ADDS on hours !!! i would gladly give up some hours off of my schedule. but every day i turn around and there are MORE newbies starting on the floor each day !!!! and i still get more hours than i can work.
i just can't figure them out.

Our mall has shortened the hours a few months ago, but not our precious Macy's.

It would make sense to shorten the work day by an hour. Money's store closes at 8, and they are one of the most profitable stores. (Although, if they stayed open any later, they wouldn't have any customers left! haha) And why be open 'till 10 on a Thursday? Sunday hours could easily be 12-5. It's a simple way to save money, and the profit would probably be the same. Look at Chick-fil-a, they make in 6 days what other fast food chains make in 7 days. Why? People know they can't go there on Sunday, so they go one of the other 6 days in the week. How many customers are in the store after the mall closes anyway?

Yet, I always have a craving for Chick-Fil-A only on Sunday. By Monday it doesn't sound good anymore.

It's a bummer when you think about having Chick-fil-a on Sunday, and then remember that they are closed. I have a friend that works at a company near the mall, and goes to Chick-fil-a every weekday. EVERY! He always walks through Macy's, so he stops by to see me.

sorry if we're keeping you up, FOM !!!!!!
OK...here is a new rule. it was announced at a morning rally (talk about zzzzzzzz's) that the new little roll of stickers attached to the registers will be used very shortly. they have "return stickers" which....get this.........ya ready???
EVERY SINGLE ITEM YOU SELL, YOU WILL HAVE TO ADHERE ONE OF THESE RETURN STICKERS TO THE TAG - I GUESS-.
this is to prevent rip offs being done on returns. i'm like, are you fu**ing kidding me ?? now we're gonna have to start putting these stupid stickers on everything we sell???
you freaking idiots. if macy's didn't have such a crazy return policy, you wouldn't have these many thefts.
no where, NO WHERE IN THE RETAIL INDUSTRY DOES ANYONE HAVE A 6 MONTH RETURN POLICY !!!! NO WHERE !!!
who has this? it's usually 30 days . 90 days is almost unheard of nowadays. but we're still doing 180 days?? i have people bringing in returns 2 days before 180 days. by then, we are losing money on the return.
macy's is run by such idiots, i can't stand it anymore .

We have been doing this for years. It's not a big deal. It makes it much easier when people return things.

Our Macy's has been doing this for years. South (if he ever comes back around) correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Rich's do this also? I know Dillard's has always done it.
I appreciate the 180 return policy. I was born with a crippling birth defect in my legs that causes my legs to bow outwards. My feet are strongly deformed. I don't have an arch, and where my arch should be is my actual ankle. There are even extra bones in my foot. Especially my right foot.
This makes buying shoes a total nightmare. I don't abuse the policy, but if I wear the shoes to work and they hurt me, then it's great to know that I can bring them back with no questions asked. To me, this policy is very valuable, and one of the reasons that outside of Aldo, I never buy shoes any where but Macy's.

I've never understood that. You should test your hours for year 1 and then adjust in year 2. If sales don't justify the staffing, electrical, and other associated costs, then you close.

Well see FOM, your way would make sense. Macy's doesn't believe in making sense. They do things for the ease of advertising even tho it means 95% of the stores are not doing any business during extended hours!

We've always used the CRL sticker. It works as the gift receipt also. About a month ago, we got the capability to print gift receipts.
