Darn Money just suck it up and be A MAN or is it Female Whatever.. . Norma the only problem doing that ahead time it might get goof up if someone returns the same item and if you use the same crl the customer will have a problem in retd it. Specially if they lost the receipt. I had seen it happen NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET.. TEAM WINS

um... stupid question.....
when it is really slow in the store - as it usually is in my store- and i am bored out of my tree....
why not go around and put those frigging stickers on stuff so it is ready when customers pick em off the rack ? it would be much quicker. |
That sounds like a good idea, but NOT. When stuff is returned, the clr needs to be scratched out. The register won't let you reuse a CRL. It will come back "Duplicate CRL" or "Already returned"
The last 4 numbers of the crl is also on the reciept. So if a person buys something say "buy 2 get 1 free" then looking at the receipt (if they have it) you will know if they are trying to return the free item.

But wouldn't that be the same whether you put the CRL on ahead of time or when you ring it up?

What I'm trying to explain is if a CRL is put on ahead of time (while the merchandise is still on the racks) a sneaky customer can take the merchandise and try to return it. They will get the lowest price because the transaction will say "Not Found". So technically, they'll be stealing.
Now if there's a long line, then the clr's can be put on ahead of time to speed up check-out.

True, but all Macy's brands already have the CRL on the tag.

I have told customers that they cannot return items b/c they do not have CRL's, and I KNEW that the items did not come from our store (we didn't even have some of them!) and of course a manager said to take the stuff back. So what's the point anyway?
At Dillards, no label, no return. That's the way it should be!

But they don't cross them out. I just bought an Alfani sports coat and it had a CRL on it when I took it to the register.
Having a CRL already on the item is how I always could tell if it had been previously purchased and returned.
Dillard's registers won't let you bypass the CRL, Katy always had to have them.

Macy's store brands come with a CRL on the tag. Alfani is a Macy's brand.

Yes, but he still put a sticker on it, and it has a CRL sticker on it to begin with that someone had applied. I see what your saying though, there are 2 barcodes on the tag.

Hmm. I have heard that some stores use CRL's that are specific as to who gets productivity for the item, maybe that's why they put a new one on. IDK.

I always put a crl on the second bar code on the tag. At least in our area, only merchandise from a single transaction can be returned. When a customer brings back a shitload of merchandise (pregnant moms from a baby shower), I can usually tell by the number on the CRL if it was the same transaction.

i have already rung up stuff that already had the crl new sticker on it ( maybe returned previously) with no problemo. as long as it is returned in the system, you CAN re-ring it up,.

so i see a co-worker today sticking the new return labels on shirts on hangers and i say, "what are you doing?" then my gsm walks up and they both say our SM announced at a morning rally that we can and should stick the new return labels on the (thousands of ) tags that need them. her reasoning is once it starts getting really busy -4th quarter- (isn't that like 4 months away ???? you HOPE we get busy). but i digress. anyhew... her reasoning is that when we get really busy, we won't have the time to do it at the register cuz the lines will be long, etc.
then i said that is what i thinking of doing (and told you guys about it) .
i then mentioned that now the thieves can just pick up an item and say it was a gift and the return label is on it. but of course since it has NOT been rung up, the return label has NO info on it anyway. so what's the point?
mark my words, when we have a visit and the big cheeses see all those return labels on stuff, they will slap her wrist and tell her NOT to do it again. i know it. i just know it.
then they'll tell us NOT to continue w/ some bullshit excuse.

...and when a theif comes in to return something, and the CRL won't work, your manager will say to take the return anyway. Plus, like I said before, when it asks for the CRL, you can just hit enter. Pointless!
When your auditor comes, they will have a fit over the stickers already being on the tickets.
