starting monday sept 21, there will be 1 number to call for HR help ... Most things you can do on insite, but everything else will be done thru the 1800#. This eliminates the need to see your HR manager every time.

I believe the new PTO feature will let you "OWE" vacation days if you take more than your allotment. so you won't get an error message saying you do not have enough vacation days.

I know when I was on LOA, HR didn't know squat; the 1800# or the store HR.

i think this is part of the peoplesoft 9.0 upgrade... they are getting rid of some HR assistants probably and cutting some peoples hours. It's like the 1-800 number or NOTHING now....

centralizing means DOWNSIZING in between.

Our store requires that we submit a paper request form for floating holidays and vacation days to the GSM who then forwards it the the Staffing Mgr to approve. We are not allowed to access Insite ourselves. Does this new phone number over-ride our store procedure or will stores still be able to make their own rules on how personal time off will be approved?

you can access PTO from home. what's that crap that you're not allowed? when you submit PTO, your manager receives an e-mail for the request.

I hope Macy's has enough sense to know that different states have different labor laws. The new HR will need to brush up on labor law.

Bell, you probably didn't get the memo. There are no more STATE labor laws. Only MACY"S labor laws.

I thought Macy's didn't believe in laws period. They pretty much work their employees to death and make up their own policies and procedures.

Being an ex-union member, I take the labor laws very seriously.

Bell, we have been told that we can't use the PTO access on Insite. The store mgmnt inputs the info after our paper requests have been approved by them. Yes, it is BS!

This IS BS! If you called your regional and told them this, your SM would get in BIG trouble! Macy's WANTS you to use insight.

Good luck bell. Many of your co-workers talk a good game but when push comes to shove, many of them cower under threat of Big Brother.

i need to comment on this.

there are different laws in different states, and i do not know all the laws for each state except NY.

first, we were told last month about HR service and the consolidation. some regions were still calling in terminations. we have been able to term associates in INSITE and PEOPLESOFT for a months. they are centralizing everything to be one macy's.

i have found HR services to be very helpful. if you are going out on LOA, you must go through them, not HR in your store. you need to tell your GSM and HR, but you must call 1-800-number.

vacation should be mapped out with the GSM. if the GSM requires a sheet requesting vacation, then might use it for organizational reasons. the associate should go in and request the PTO and the GSM should be approving the days...not the scheduling manger. the GSM is responsible for their area. the scheduling manager should only be approving days if there is a problem.

you can request days by calling HR Services. i do not believe gsm's receive emails, as many of them do not have email access, which i find ridiculous.

i will tell you in my store, every associate deserves to take your vacation, but you can not ask for a week vacation after the schedules have dropped. you must submit vacation time 4 weeks before. only one associate per department, and if you can not work and the schedules dropped, the associate and the gsm need to replace the hours.

macy's mess.....i hope your gsm's is approving them...not anybody else. you should be able to submit PTO any time in INSITE and your gsm should go in and manage the process.

Our GSM's are not allowed to use Insite edits.... only the scheduling mgr. GSM's approve time off and then give it to the scheduling mgr who inputs it into the system. In April assoc.'s were told that the July and August vacation weeks were already used up and no more vacations would be approved for those months. The SM will not let us use Insite in the manner in which it is supposed to be used for requesting time off.

Home Depot did this a long time ago. It was a pain in our store. We still had a local HR, but she split 3 stores and was very rarely at our store.
