Speaking of which, I have heard that several of our seasonal people were hired with the understanding that they WOULD NOT be working Black Friday OR the day after Christmas. I think this is very unfair to those of us that have worked both days for years w/o ever having one off!

These are people that requested to have black friday and the day after christmas off, and were told yes. So unfair! I have asked for ONE of them off in 20 years, and was told that "It's an EVERYBODY work day!". What makes it even worse is that while I show up, many other people call out and get no consequenses whatsoever.
Underappreciated, that's how I feel at my store right now.

i thought for a brief moment I was going to pick up a job for the holidays... not necessarily at Macys, but in retail. Then I remembered black friday and all bets were off...

If things continue to fall into place as they have thus far, I am planning to NOT be employed by Macy's on that date.

Huds, you are so lucky. I am playing the lottery every single day between now and Thanksgiving. I so much hate Macy's. It could be so much better if they just treated people with respect.

Respect is a four letter...er seven letter word! It's obscene by Macy's standards! Their new motto is Way to Enslave! Evil or Very Mad

Things must be incredibly chaotic for Thanksgiving week.

I've been called at home TWICE in the past week asking if I can either work more hours (answer: NO), and whether or not I can adjust my days off...

The good news is that I may have a green light on a new job outside Macy's. It probably won't happen until after February of next year, but I have the opportunity to come aboard early for very limited hours to earn some extra cash and get to know the business. There may be hope, after all.

Good luck. Let me know if you want to borrow my Lucky jeans. Smile

They asked me if I would like to work more hours, and I said NO, and then they scheduled me for more hours anyway. I should have known that being asked before scheduled was way too good to be true coming from the big red star. Sad

Huds,

It's called CALLER ID. Get it. I never answer my phone if the caller ID says "Macys".

I know, right? I would, if I had the budget for it. Right now, I'm already a month behind on the phone bill.

C'est la vie.

i had an interview last week for the PERFECT perfect job for me. i am so disappointed that i didn't get it...you don't know.

the only thing, and i mean the ONLY thing keeping me at macy's is the money. but when i find a better situation, i am ready to walk.

They can't be paying you that much for you to stay.

A fellow associate called me last night and told me she got, get this, a $.04 raise! Can you believe this shit? WTF? It takes more $$ to do the paper work. She's the top credit/sales producer in our dept. and this is the gratitude she gets. She told me, what's the point in trying. She was pissed royally.
