| After reading all of the posts on this site and other's regarding the Dollar General Stores, I must admit that I'm very skeptical about accepting a position with Dollar General. I have 7 years retail experience (first job up) and was offered an Assistant position here. Truthfully, what is the payrange I can be expecting? That is something that really wasn't discussed at the interview. | |

| in our area, assitant mgr is 7 bucks an hour, 40 hours a week, we have been without an assistant for 5 months now!! and now we don't have a mgr either. the rest of us are just trying to carry on with our same pay, and i might add we are doing a great job!!! store looks great, back room is clean, we can at least walk through without climbing over boxes, we are still digging out last years pack aways, but that isn't to hard if you don't mind climbing the ladder to the ceiling( he he he) I think the area mgr has given us a great score on the store!!! we tried to tell her that our store gets alot of customers from other areas, because they can walk down the isles and not trip over all the stuff that the other stores seem to like to pile in the isles. We take pride in the store and we work really hard to keep it clean, and yes our backroom is overflowing!!!! | |

Hey lele welcome aboard 
My advice to you is  NOT to work at DG even if you get a managers position, it's not worth it.
If you still want to work in retail then try WAL*MART or TARGET but stay as far away from DG as you can.

I just recently quit my job at DG due to too much bs. Mng. placing blame on everyone but herself when it's her fault and our area mng. does not do his job at all. We had to put up with a hostile work environment for too long all due to one employee the area mngr would not let anyone fire. Do not work for that company... p.s. the pay sucks!!! |
