Our store is scheduled for a remerc in June. Our busiest time of the year and our store will be torn apart from the inside out. New metal, new positions for the metal, areas changed slightly (we will have no furniture department.) Millwork and flooring will grow slightly as well as lumber. We won't hit budget this year. We do have a good customer base but I'm afraid during the remerc, we will temporarily lose some of them. I mean I would leave too for a bit if I came in and saw the departments torn apart and diorganization going on while they are placing new metal in and takeing away the old metal.
Nerves are going to be on end as if they aren't on end already. Not looking forward to this at all.

Bear,
You're probably right about not making budget and they should understand why, but they want, the sad thing is they'll blame it on the employees. They think theres no excuse what so ever for not making the numbers. They just can't see the forest for the trees.

I talked to several of our Management Team and they aren't happy either. They know we won't hit budget and since we won't hit budget, they won't bonus. I think I'll find another store nearby and transfer. Guess I'm one of the rats that want to get off that ship before it goes into drydock and gets ripped apart.

The last remerc we had, add 2 aisles to the store. Really messes up how you tell customers where stuff is, I use to know every aisle number now I have to remember to add two. Its an age thing, because it has been 1 1/2 years.
To the point, a couple of our guys volunteered to be on the remerc crew. When it was over so was their job. One was the Lumber manager, they gave it to the team lead, he eventually was fired. The other I can't remember who was also not brought back. One girl ran off with one of the scum guys they had doing the remerc. She was cute, but strange. Now she is back here without the guy(drug problem), when she left she was married, not any more. I did here she got married again. Hope this guy is tough, she was sleeping with the paint pro 1 week after her last marriage. Every store has one that sleeps with everyone. We had two, and they are both gone. Come to think of it, the ones they slept with are gone too.

We went through a remerc sometime last year. The store was torn apart, things moved and some customers got agitated (along with a few associates too). I went on vacation before it was all over and when I came back I had to re-learn my way around in a few places.
