Hi everyone,
I've been following this forum for about 3 months (since I hired on at Lowes) and decided it was time to become a member.
I would appreciate your thoughts on the following...
I hired on at Lowes as a seasonal employee as this was all that was available.
My HR told me, about 4 days ago, that she was talking with the SM to make me full time.
Two days ago my DM told me he wanted me to be the Team Leader for my Dept. (Hardware)
He said the position does not include a raise. I know other TL's have gotten a raise along with the title.
I enjoy working here and would like to "move up the ladder".
I am in the position where I have not officially been notified of full time status and do not want to jeopardize my current,or future, positions.
I figure I will take the position and assume the responsibilities.
The timing of all this seems like a mgmt. tactic to get me to take the position for no additional pay.

I do not believe seasonal employee's can be named dept managers. You need to request (in writing with a copy for yourself) to your HR and SM, that you be made a regular full time employee because after 3 months you feel you have proven your worthiness.
DO NOT accept any position that is a step above your current one without a pay increase. With more responsibilites should come more compensation.
If you are not made fulltime and/or do not receive a salary increase with a promotion, look for another job immediately because that should tell you what kind of people you are working for.
