I've built a little program that takes news stories from the web and posts them in the forum. I'd like to implement it here but I want to make sure that I'm not missing any of your favorite news sources.

So,

1. Where do you get your news?

2. What kind of news do you find yourself reading most often?

3. What kind of news do you enjoy discussing with others?

I'll pop in with my own answers in a bit.

For thise of us that work for Sears (or use to, anyway) the Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago Tribune are a commonplace for our news sources regarding Sears. Business sections, of course.

For other major news, the New York Times and several other websites.

Thumbs Up

yahoo.com news... you click on news, then when you move the cursor over a story, you get a detail and a picture, so you can decide what to read and what to skip.

Too many various sources to list, actually.

As long as it is kept on an adult level without name calling etc. and no one tries to force their views on me and I do not attempt to force my views on them, anything is open for discussion. It’s a great way to learn something that you may have never known or heard of but unfortunately there are so many times when some people take it to a personal level and begin mindless attacks.

So what did ya’ have in mind?

I'll play:
Quote:
1. Where do you get your news?

1. Reuters, CNN, Fox, BBC, The Age (Aus), a handful of forums that have newshounds reporting breaking headlines before they break and discussing every other obscure article from every other obscure corner of the globe.
Quote:
2. What kind of news do you find yourself reading most often?

2. "Breaking!", "Run For Your Life", "End of the World", "Woe is us" type Smile

3. What kind of news do you enjoy discussing with others?

3. Discussing requires discussees, now don't it. Neutral

I'm looking to compile a list of your favorite and most often used news sources.

www.fark.com

It is the best news site on the web. Drew's motto is...."it's not news...it's Fark." And the nice thing is, you get to post your opinions about the news stories.

/No. I don't have an affiliation with Fark, and this is not a plug. I just like that site.

I used to trust the network news sources, but really enjoy "The Daily Show"'s spin on current events, and the authors the show features.

However, I just saw a really interesting documentry on IFC concerning media bias surrounding the war in Iraq. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about the networks now.

Danny Schechter , who did the film I mentioned also has a news blog called " The News Dissector" . Looks interesting.

Amazon sells copies of the film, and has a brief decription. Ok, not so brief, if it was shorter I would have quoted some of it here. Anyway. The film is called "WMD: Weapons of Mass Deception"

Actually I "watch" FoxNews but read a lot of news from newspaper and television websites all over the United States and overseas. It is really interesting how some foreign sources cover news about us.

I love to watch BBCWorld News during any crisis. You're right True, It is interesting to watch how the US news stories are perceived by foreign sources.
"Now with Bill Moyers" on PBS was great too. Sometimes I'll watch "The Al Fanken Show" on IFC, I think he's funny. His politics swing too far to the left for me though. I tend to perfer a middle ground, that's why I listen to conservative talk radio while driving. They even each other out and I can draw my own conclusions.

*The exception is Ann Coulter. I've tried, but I can't take her .

Other than the local morning paper... I get the news on my PDA. Yahoo and USA Today are the top sources from the net.
