* You've been warned *

So, today my son ( age 6) signed up for hockey.

woOTY woOT woOT!!!!

He looks so damn cute in his little breezers, and pads, and helmet! I can't wait to see him take to the ice for the first time.

Can I also mention that he was the only kid in his class to be able to read the word "pedestrian" from their 1st grade word list?

I am one proud mama today.

Bring it on. I love hockey. When my son was younger I'd make him watch the games with me. I am from a state in the upper mid-west which had just aquired a hockey team before the lockout, so I've been going through withdrawl for the last year.

My daughter is a perfect angel, she does no wrong (said to the teacher who acused her of hitting another student). OK, yeah right. I'm not really one of those parents who wear blinders. But I do know she wouldn't hit someone unless she felt threatened. For a 7 year old she knows right from wrong and has been studying Tae Kwon Do since she was 4. She knows the damage she could do to someone... so when the teacher made the accusation, I knew she was full of it. On a side note, she recently accompanied me to a pick-up hockey game and afterwards asked if she could play in the rink's junior league. Shouldn't have given away my old gear I guess Doh!

Yeah, blinders are bad...mkay...

I know full well what the smirks the teachers make at me are because of. My son also happens to be quite ...verbal. He has this thing for the show "Good Eats". Great show, lots to learn, but my son remembers weird food facts and recites them verbatim in class when he thinks they apply. We just had a tapioca episode last week that the teachers still haven't gotten over. I just hope that chilies ( with an "E") don't come up. He'll be in rare form.

Mine's not a teen yet... I'm still cherishing these younger years and so not looking forward to the upcoming teen years.

Thank goodness my our done with the teenage years. I remember when my son was 5 and got angry with me over something and said 'I hate you.' Well I took the kitchen dish soap and put some on his tonge and made him sit in a chair for a few minutes. Well he started to cry and bubbles started coming out of his nose. Now as a mother your not suppose to laugh, but it was so funny. And he couldn't talk for a while. I did feel bad, but it was a sight to see. Well he's almost 22 now, and has not called me a name since that day. I miss the days when he was young and I was his whole world,and I miss the hugs. Now he's a man and all I get is a hi now and then.
