Hello
I'm new to Lowes and have some questions for anyone who wants to answer. I just had my first interveiw, I was offered the job of Sales Specialist for the electrical department. I was told I would start out at $10.92 per hour. I have 30 years experience in this field and that seems low for a starting wage. My first question is should I ask for more or is that what they usually start out their specialists with? Also where does a sales specialist fall in the chain of command, like are they above a department manager? They have so many titles it's hard to know who is what and what is expected of you. Any help would be appreciated-Thanks

Hi ya new guy welcome to lowes! A sales speacalist is a stange position. you are technicaly near the bottom of the chain, althouh you are probly the most knolage able in you dept. If it's anything like my store you will be traeted as management although you are not. As far as pay your starting at about average. Yes it is low ,but it a job. your duties will likely include interacting with cousmers, cleaning, stocking shelves and puting up freight. This is not a sit around and wait for shopper to come type of job you will work. hope I've helped, and not hindered you.

I got $12 to be a Millwork specialist in a high pop./big$$$ area
they just hired me b/c I think they needed a body b/c I am not gettiing any type of training or anything except getting left alone for 4-7 hrs at a time and not even being able to place an order! If some one is there , they just speed speak how to do it and do it themselves. 1.13.4,1.12.12, ect its BS!
I have 2 degrees from Penn State so I am not a complete idiot, just a little training would be helpful. Plus with all of the install paper work, ect, what the F do they want?
Tomorrow I am asking to be knocked down to a CSA in another dept, then I will just rid eit out till I find a better job. I had all beliefs that this was going to be a kick ass place to work, but I was snowballed in my interview. I dont even want a managament positon, I'd rather be home with my dogs instead of working 60hrs a week making nothing

forgot to add that I was told I'd have a 90day reveiw and a raise, but in orientation I was told specialist dont get that and I wont be there long enough for the march review so I would have to wait till 2007!
everything I said about why I left my job at the motorcycle shop and how they treated me, and why I thought Lowes was going to be better( and was told it was going to be) all ended up being the same. I cant take this sh!t anymore
plus getting bumbed out of my weekend off too, so much for corprate schedules, its whatever they feel like doing to you

That's to low, even in a small market for a Specialist, tell them what you have to have to work for Lowe's and be prepared to walk out. With 30 years experience in electrical you have the upper hand, you should be able to get another job somewhere else if they don't want to pay for your knowledge.

I agree with turtle, 30 years of experience and you want to be a specialist?? I'm sorry to say, but a specialist is nothing more than having coverage for your dept at a low income rate. take your total income, divide it by the hours you work, that 's your hourly income for that week I don't care what they tell you about salired plus overtime, it wasn't worth my time or effort to be there that long, I was offered to be team leader (hourly rate) and jump on it. I have spent my whole life in the construction field, new homes, electrial apprenitance, plumbing apprentiance, and so on I'm staying at this time for the benefits, If you or any one else look into the hyatt legal service, its enough to make anyone stay Good luck and remember its us that go to work and kick ass makes lowes the best place to work for
