I was just hired at home depot. Wondering how associate morale is, and how do people like working there? Any feed back would be appreciated.

I guess No news is GOOD news?? I am thinking of leaving Lowes and going to Depot. Reason being is I am driving 60 miles a day to work. New Depot maybe going up only 10 miles away. For me I feel that the job would be about the same. I like working at Lowes but I spend $54.00 a week in gas thats over $200.00 a month to me that alone would be worth it.

I was thinking of leaving Lowe's for the Depot a while back, and asked Depot's manager if things were any better at his store--he gave me an honest reply, "Nope. There pretty much the same." In fact, he knew the manager at our store, so they've compared notes. And I asked our manager the same question. He said he's hired Depot's people who've come hoping for something better, too. But it's the same thing, just a different color. Hope that helps!

I used to work for HD at the customer service desk...all i have to say is....."CYA" cause if you dont it will come back on you!! seen it many times! when in doubt get atleast 2 MOD's so that it falls back on them. And as far as HD custom order policies..there are none...I was made to look like a fool when I explained to a customer our custom order policies (which are in writting, and have documents stating that along with the customers signature that we explained those custom order policies) only to have a MOD take their custom order back.....WHATS UP WITH THAT?? I know the old saying the customer is always right but when you have the policy displayed all over the customer service desk...and MOD doesnt back you up...thats crazy, then they should take those sign down cause they dont mean a damn thing!!!! From what i've seen working at HD,they only care about $$$ and screw the associates. If you stay long enough you will soon see how things really are at the orange box.

I left Sears 2 years ago for Lowes. It is somewhat better enviroment but basically I now believe retailing is retailing the only major difference is the name above the door. I also believe that the way retailers treat their employees qualifies the retail industry as 21st century version of a "sweatshop"....

I just had the same thought as the last post, a second before reading it. While at some point in the past Sears was good to it's employees, and one could earn an above average income, that is no longer the case. Retail today is almost as bad as working in a fast food restaurant. I really enjoyed the last of the good ol' day's at Sears and can see that it has finally hit bottom and has become hell for it's salesforce.

hey its chubby from the old sears in az 1768,left in may and have been with home depot 488 store life is great after sears. have had 7 other fellow sears bc salesman leave and come on board ,they are all very happy.some of the hd people dont realize how good they have it.compared to sears.wish you luck, I AM HOME DEPOT,CHUBBY
