Can you say $4.00 a gallon
Folks in Cali always pay more for fuel...but this is not a great sign for the rest of us across the country. Might be time to by a scooter like a few of my friends and enjoy that 100 mpg for the summer.

Makes me glad I drive a sedan that gets good gas mileage. Also, I only fill up every 2 weeks.

I've had to give up driving for health reasons but I'm still affected by the cost increases in public transportation and also by the fact that my family members scattered around the state can no longer afford to come and visit.
I got an email from one of those grass roots organizations. They're aware that most of us can't or won't stop driving and that few of us are even willing to cut back on unnecessary automobile travel, but what they suggest is that everyone who drives NOT buy their gas from Exxon/Mobil which is the biggest profit taker in the business and the greediest and most arrogant of the lot. (Check out the raise their CEO got.) If you have to buy gas, buy only that produced by smaller companies and don't buy from the big boys at all. Makes sense to me.

Exxon/Mobile and American Airlines are always on the news and the paper down here. The payout that that CEO got is disgusting. Exxon is like American to me, I refuse to purchase from either one of them.

I can do that. But at the risk of sounding stupid (which I'm quite accustomed to)... how can I be sure?
I buy my gas from the local Tom Thumb... and I don't really know which company the gas comes from. Is there any info on the internet?

No, not really. The no name gas could actually come from anywhere, including Exxon/Mobil. I think what they're talking about is buying from Chevron, or Arco or Union... other actual producers, just not Exxon/Mobil.

ARCO got bought out by British Petroleum sometime in the mid 90's. If there's still an ARCO station around, I'd be surprised.

There are about four Arco stations within a five mile radius of where I am in Cali

Really? Hmmmm...guess they didn't drop the name after all. I know they are all over the west coast.

We still have them out here, they're just called AM-PM Minimarts. I knew Atlantic Richfield had been bought out by someone, just couldn't remember who. But anyway, they still use the Arco label on a lot of their stuff.

Here in Texas on the Gulf coast, we're nippin' $3.00/gal.
Don't laugh, but this morning I pumped some air into the ol' bicycle tires, slipped a canvas bag over my shoulder, and made a trip to the grocery store.

They are warning us to get ready for $5 gallon gasoline. I just can't imagine my pick up truck will take $130 worth of gas in one tank!

We're almost there in Canada too
Though we pay per liter(3.784 gallons), we're up to $1.10/litre in Vancouver. Works out to about $4.16 a gallon. Yikes!
Up here Exxon supplies mainly to Esso, so stay away from Esso Canadians! Actually, they're probably all just as evil but Esso is definitely the most infamous of the bunch.
Greenpeace launched a campaign against Esso a few years back. I believe it's still going strong.
BTW, Happy Earth Day everyone!

We've already gotten our Earth Day wishes from the oil companies. Did anyone else see this coming when they refused to even put the oil company execs under oath at those so called "hearings" a few months back?
Like telling them, "Of course, you don't have to talk to us and if you do, you don't have to tell the truth. This is just a showcase to make it look like we're doing our jobs, that's all.".
Sleep tight America, your congress is watching over you.

I thought that this was going to happen almost 2 years ago when I bought a econo-car to drive instead if my V-8 truck. It now costs me the same to drive the econo-car as the truck used to cost me, 10 cents per mile.
