|
|
|
Hi - Doug (MrDD) is working on a scrapbook for his mother's 85th birthday - he found some very tiny game cards at the arts and crafts store - his mother use to play bridge with the other military wives - neither Doug nor I know anything about bridge - does anyone know what cards would be a winning hand
is it all hearts, or diamonds, or other - is it a full house type of hand - or a straight - how many?
we haven't a clue what cards to stick on the page that would be a winning or a good hand in bridge - can anyone help?

Hello Mrs. D.D.
In case you're checking back with us, I did find a few explanations/tips on this site -
http://www.rpbridge.net/1a00.htm
Hope it helps.

this was a good tip - but because MrDD is running out of time - and I don't have the patience to learn - would you know this?
If you were dealt the perfect or the best winning hand possible, what would that hand look like?
would it be ? :
Spade: AKQJ
Diamond: AKQ
Club: AKQ
Heart: AKQ

I want to say that's right, but I'm not exactly sure, either. I haven't played bridge since high school and I was just learning it. I Googled "bridge card game chat room" and got -
http://support.zonesysops.com/Card_Board.htm
- where you can sign up for free at Zone.com and ask other members questions. I also found two tips here -
http://www.webterrace.com/bridge/scoring.htm
| Quote: |
| The top five trumps (A K Q J 10) are called honours. If one player holds all five of these cards, that player's side scores a bonus of 150 above the line. Four honours in one hand score 100. If there are no trumps, and a player holds four aces, that player's side scores 150 for honours. |
The second tip gives the correct sequence:
| Quote: |
| The deck has four suits, Spades , Hearts , Diamonds , and clubs . I put the suits in this order because this is the way they are ranked while playing bridge. Spades is the highest, hearts, then diamonds and clubs. The ranking of these suits will become important during bidding. |
I would say you are on the right track, Mrs. D.D.

According to this source Perfect Bridge Hand it would be 13 spades. I'd be careful about giving it to MrDD though. Read the article for why.
