I got caught with 3-4 of the old stamps at the last price increase. This time it looks like I'll get caught with damned near the whole thing. Postal Service Wants To Raise Stamp Price One thing that doesn't surprise me at all: Quote: For example, each penny increase in the price of a gallon of gasoline costs the post office $8 million, and payroll, health expenses and other costs also have been rising. Since Civil Service jobs are about the only ones left where you can get decent health insurance at a halfway affordable price and also be virtually assured of a cost of living raise every year or two, I'm not surprised by that part of it either.
