Images gone, google ads arrive (when logged off)... I have a feeling those are cost related measures, n'est pas? If so, should we be encouraged to click a google ad, or is this just a change to fit the fads, fit the times? if it IS to fit the times, then i think i'll get even more with the times by throwing away most traces of punctuation. if it is to fit the times, then i think we should just turn this into a blogosphere. j/k

Absolutely. This is an experiment to see if we can make the site pay for itself.
Any sort of explicit "encouragement" is a surefire way to have google cancel the account. I don't even think we should be talking about it. 
 I like the grey! What color would you recommend? In hex please!

Sorry, I honestly never knew that about the google ads tos.
Have to run now, will have a look at colours later tonight. Maybe by the time I get back, the grey will grow on me. Perhaps if it was the usual cloudy day, the grey would have been in tune with the mood, but it's unbelievably sunny here today. Don't mind me, I'm babbling. Sorry about the ad mention again.
edit: have you tried #f0f0f0? it does have some grey in it, but blue-ified in a way. |

| I've discovered after some experimentation that blending adsense into your site works significantly better than making it stand out (like in boxes here on r-w). In fact, making the ads stand out effectively kills all interest in them. Perhaps worth an experiment here too. Apologies for bumping an oldie, but I remembered this thread while doing some fine-tuning earlier today. Regards. | |
