I have a friend at our store that called the awareness line as this person is just as stressed out as the rest of us about our working environment. We just had a Regional Walk and from what we know it went absolutely amazing, the one thing they stated and we were told was our store had the happiest associates of any store they had walked, thats I guess what upset my friend and they called. Now today it seems the store was notified that the District Manager is coming in to hold a town hall with all of us associates. I have never been to one! what are they like and should we just shut up and say everything is peachy? I don't know if they are fishing for who called and trying to weed out people? We live in constant fear of our jobs around here and are kinda scared to say anything, just surviving...

My experience with Town Halls is that the attendees are invited. As you can imagine the invitees are the whinners and the company liners.
The whinners get to go so they think someone cares and the company liners are there for the window dressing (buzz words and bullshit).
If you go to one, remember that if you get specific you will be "remembered" .

Tell them the truth! Tell them what's on your mind! They need to know. They don't want to "weed" out people, they just don't want to have these issues...I'm an HRM and I've been exposed to those things lots of times. They want to know what is going on. It would be a waste of time if they came in and nothing was said. They cannot tell anybody who said what in these meetings...breach of confidentiality. And no one can retaliate against anyone for speaking their mind...it's a terminable offense.

THAT is HRM doublespeak, honey.
There are MANY ways to screw somebody over in HD...if you are in doubt, just perouse your rulebook.
Mgt. doesn't HAVE to nail you for speaking out...Mgt. can just wait for you to make ONE mistake and nail you to the wall for it! (being late, a mispunch, etc, etc!) perfectly "legal" and not about the complainer complaining.
