I have lived in CA all my life. As of July 2003 the Dems hold all elected state offices. This state is a financial ruin...38 BILLION in debt........we have the lowest bond credit rating in the Union......The Dems have TRIPLED the car tax and have passed other regressive tax increases in order to pay for the pork barrel spending. If you think the Democratic party is for the working person, you are sadly mis-guided. Taxes are tyranny...let the people spend what they make how they please. We all know a certain amount of taxes are a necessary evil....but when you government goes out of control and increases spending 30% in the past 4 years then why should the people have to pay for it? The Teacher, Prison Guard and Firefighter unions control the governor and are a huge reason for the spending increases.....the average prison guard makes 70K a year.......sure its dangerous......but that is a hell of a lot more than a lot of real cops make........yes there is power in unions.....just the wrong type.

Remember unions like anything else can be good or bad it is how you use them that counts. I agree with you bodyguard that the dems are not doing a good job. Oh i remember you asking me what party affiliation i was. Wait no you asked if i would be switching parties based on my union views. Actually i am a republican and will stay one. Just because my views on unions differ then that on other republicans does not mean that i am not a republican. My main beliefs in reducing goverment size and waste as well as lowering taxes remains to be true. So my core values of a republican in my opinion are still in tact. Just on some of the outer branches of that party i have some different opinions thats all. I am also a pro-choice republican just to let you know. Smile What kind of republican are you. Modified with some different opinions or toe the line by the book republican (pro-life, no gay marriages etc.?)

Maybye you just dont get it.....when somebody does not reply to your last post or there are very few views to a post that means that nobody cares or does not want to respond. That should give you a clue to let a subject go......

The state's twin political crises -- the nation's largest deficit and the gubernatorial recall -- have brought out the worst in both parties IMO. What a mess!

The Golden State?
California is now poised to become "Exhibit A" in the "starving government" experiment, just as the recall campaign and gubernatorial response to it has become "Exhibit A" for low-road politics. While people will disagree over the causes and consequences of both crises, this much is clear: they show what happens when the darkest political instincts take charge, and neither party is immune.

An interview with California gubernatorial candidate Arianna Huffington
Quote:
The pent-up frustration in the electorate, and the fact that this is an extraordinary circumstance that we are presented with, makes it possible for someone like me to run as an independent, which is what I'm doing, and to have a platform through which I can reach a lot of people who feel excluded by the political process, who feel shut out, who feel that they cannot make a difference. ...
