Body, Do you really think Sears would be dumb enough to fire someone over using business cards. We would love to see this show up in the Wall St. Journal.

It's been quite awhile since we've seen any managers hiding behind any refrigerators or TV's taking notes while listening to one of their salepeople try to fill out one of those stupid things.

I do think they will use it with some other combination of infractions, yes. Who really gives a shit? If one's world is so small that one cant deal with at least some changes, then give it up! I am saying why bring attention to yourself over something so petty?

Petty my ass, there's nothing worse than seeing some new trainee steeling your sale because the guy couldn't get the ridiculous tear sheet in his wallet.

what you refer to as a tear sheet is now called a discovery guide, the space on the back is for your name and hours you work, I suggest you use it to make sure your customers come back to you only because of the great impression you made.Business cards are not permitted although I have had some from other stores still brought in, its hard to break away from, but policy is the discovery card is your business card/

If you want to pay for the cards you can attach them to the Discovery Guide, also you can attach to your thank you envelope. Especially if they are in a new development. I have had customers give them to one of the new neighbors who is also looking for appliances.

We were told in our store that the only dept. that still requires a tear sheet was appliances. That's why the only dept. that is on the automatic customer call back program is the appliance dept.

Even Sears must be realizing it's not too smart to be filling out tear sheets while selling a VCR, when customers are standing around waiting to buy a roll of film !

We use business cards all the time, allthough people in BC can get in trouble for using them, our managers look the other way, the way we and they look at it, if we get a be-back anyway we can, that's all that matters

i give out both, to increase the chance they will remember me...and if they lose one, they will have the other...it is just plain unprofesional and stupid to not use business cards

Alright everyone, here is how I do it. I carry the stupid book with me, go through my sales presentation and if I know they are not buying I just say let me write some of this info down for you. I give the sears # of what we looked at etc the price and when the sale ends. Also all other pertinent info such as deliv and install costs, MPA prices, promos etc. Obviosly nto every bit of info or all the products looked at, but one or two anyway. I also print stuff from internet, my name and hours on back and staple it all together with a business card on the front. I also use the discovery guide sheet, to write down models #'s etc so when we get to the register I know what to wring up for them. Its a pretty simple process, fairly unobtrusive and if I cant close the sale right then they have a nice packet of info to go somewhere else and pricematch sears with Thumbs Up or they just might come back and I'll get a nice little sale. I also find those little tear sheets explaining the main points of MPA's are useful and I can write the prices right on it.

Just use your head and your selling skills and all this bs we are getting can be used to your advantage. The questions on the tear aheet should be asked anyway and now you have a filled out tear sheet. O yeah, I never ask a customer who isnt buying for there phone #, I will never call them If they want to buy they know where I am. And if any of you need the "discovery guide" to sell find a new job!!! Very Happy

Exactly how I do it!! I print stuff from internet discovery guide hours on the back. Just write Sears number down not the model so that can not go to competitor if I can not close that day!! I enclose a business card in the folder for them too when I do close. I rip the end of the discovery guide off to give them my hours in the thank you folder. Double the use of the expensive paper. Because if their is some problem I would like to handle it myself.
