The gutted last phase of Six Sigma, (which is actually the only variable part of the process) is in place now... that's what has kept the companies who sell versions of this manufacturing process in the retail business (a seize the moment thing). In the end the purveyors tell the company they sold it to that they did or did not follow the consultative plan, and is exonerated from failure, and is therefore exempt from claim and blame, also known as a "hold harmless" clause.
That being said, where are we headed from here?
I have quietly looked at these posts for several days, and I see that the direction of store control has not yet gotten through, even to some who purport to be SGMs.
What does it take? Why is the message not clear? Ethical sales. Period. Sears will pay Store Perform what it is contracted for. Some money was foolishly spent, most was well spent, given the current corrections.
Ya know, it reminds me of the parable of the farmer who prospered and said he would tear down his old barns and build new barns, ... not realizing his time to go was that night.
Sears' time to go is not tonight... The day that time comes, and it will, depends on you. Sell, and sell ethically. It's more than a job to some of us.

The is my final post to the forum, as I have the answer now to my question, What Happened to Sears? Sears has emerged bloody and battered through some obvious missteps, but it has, none the less, emerged. Good sense in this company has finally prevailed, which is all I wanted to begin with. Let's hope it's not too late. The worst is passed, the destruction has been stopped... It's time to start building again.
Thank you all for your great exchange of thoughts, I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and will continue to read the forum occasionally.
Peace and Prosperity to all of us.

Hello? That's it? It's over? You're finished talking to us? You are someone I look up to. Someone I felt had some answers, some insight. You write two quick paragraphs and leave?
I don't know the parable about the farmer. Maybe you could come back and tell it to us.
The worst is passed, the destruction has been stopped... what makes you so sure? I wish you wouldn't go. No reason to go! You offer an opinion and an outlook that some of us here need.
There are going to be more changes ahead for us, bad and good. Why not stay and offer us your commentary and advice?

Why would someone who has been with us all these months, come on here and announce he was no longer going to post? How in the world would he know in advance that something's not going to come up tomorrow, next week or next month, that deserves a few words on his part?
What... he's seen us through to this level and now he's just going to stand back and watch? Is the whole drama going to take too long and he has decided to move on now?
The worst is passed, the destruction has been stopped. Really? What does this mean? Can we relax now, assured that all is well? Excuse me if I seem paranoid, but all the events since January 2002 have made me this way.
Sales support is understaffed and overworked. Commissioned sales is in turmoil. Store managers aren't just managing, but working on the salesfloor as if their lives depended on it. (Mine is probably the hardest working employee in the building, which sets a great example, but this gives some of us an impression of desperation.)
Come back, whathappenedtosears, and tell us you'll stick around!

you are bailing out because you are scared of being found out. what is going on. you come here give them the impression that you were x corp and now you take a hike. what is really gsounds like oing on. you too scared to tell the truth. sounds like it to me . are they getting to close to you. well join the club. these people here are very concerned for their jobs too. they come here some to release stress, some to give stress and some to find out what is going on in their company. and all you say is good bye. well you owe them more than a goodbye. and if you do leave without a answer you in my opinion would have better not even have come here in the first place. rp

WHTS doesn't owe us anything. He has been a valuable part of this forum as well as the old RW. He is corporate but didn't swallow the BS that all of the yes men did, he held onto his convictions while he probably could have bailed out and gone to work elsewhere
If WHTS feels he has reached the end of the line with his contributions to the forum, so be it, just realize that he continues to watch out for our collective ass. I don't hink I will be with Sears much longer but those of you who have made your careers there and want to keep them need people like WHTS, Footie, X-SearsExec and others at the top to keep fairness and logic working at Hoffman.
