Well today I am being called in the back for a verbal whatever. If it is for points I am going to be really upset.
Had a bad year. Took two days off in May because my son-in-law was murdered (1 for his funeral) and 1 Monday because my 7 yr old granddaughter who lives with me has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I have to give her the insulin in the morning so I had to go to Childrens hospital and learn how to do it. A matter of her life or death. Been here 14 yrs and probably only missed a day or two a year. Want to bet the points are for this. If it is, it is inhuman.

Ask if you can tape record the conversation to make sure you understand what they are telling you. Even ask for an outside witness to the conversation.

Check your state laws, I do not think they can give you points for a funeral. Call the Labor Board before being called in!!!

Yes that really bugs them call in another associate. They have to let you. When they call you in for anything they sure call in the forces. Do the same. You can access your employee rights, by going to your state website and go under the labor board. It is all clear in their. You can even email in complaints against corporations their

You should not of been given points for the funeral, if anything at all you should of been paid berevmeant(sp) pay if you were schedule that day to work, actually since he was your son inlaw you were allowed up to 5days off. This info is in the employee handbook. Don't let them pull one on you.

If indeed you only have two points by this time of year, there should be no warning. How many other days have you missed?

In fact our HR said I was not able to get funeral pay because he was not a blood relative. Had to take a PH to cover both days. Did not take anything for the day at the hospital. I don't really care anymore about their "days". Some things are more important than Sears/
As for points, don't think I have any, at least no one has told me that I do. Never missed any days before or went home early.
Was not called in today for verbal. Lead was off, so guess it will be tomorrow. It may be because I was on the schedule for 12-9, and I thought it was 12:15 to 9:15 as it has been for years, and I puched in at 12:10. so I was 3 minutes late. But our lead said he was going to change it to 12:15 because someone on that schedule did not come in. Guess he didn't. Our HR goes by the book. Every morning she does a head count, and counts the minutes.

Today I got the verbal warning.
7 points, none of which I was aware of.
2 for calling in sick in march.
1 for going home early sick in april. approved
2 for punching in late 3 minutes in june. Not exactly my fault. There was a mixup on the schedule, I thought was fixed. That teaches me for "thinking"
all that's o.k. life happens, next time just shoot me.
and 2 for calling in Monday Aug 4, because as I said, had to go to Childrens Hospital to learn how to save my granddaughter's life, so to speak.
I am so stunned and hurt.. Can't believe the soo sorrys, here 2 points!!
I am not a newcomer here, worked with these people for 14 yrs.
This is not the Sears I came to work for so many years ago.
I'm sorry for this happening to you , I hate to hear or see a fellow associate kicked around. It must be the secret point police that gave you points when you weren't looking.
I've worked at Sears for over 19 years, even though others would say it's just a job, It hurts your feelings so bad.
I sometimes think that the DOM finds the people who are making a good hourly rate with more than 5 years in and begins execution to get rid of them... They will begin there work on me soon, for I am part-time with restricted work hours.
They can't stand that .

wait a minute, you were just notified about the points that were issued for those days in march, april, and june?? wasn't there some kind of rule that they have to issue those points in a reasonable amount of time. 3-6 months later??? come on. by that same rule i could skip work all next week and get fired for it in december.

It looks like according to the form he showed me, you don't get a verbal until the 4th time. Which was Aug. 4th. I truly had no idea about the others. I asked him for a copy of the form and he would not give me one. Am I entitled to a copy?

I have copies of everything that has gone down since Jan 2002 I feel we all need this for our protection/ If he or she does not give you a copy go to HR, go to SGM, if not then call the ethics line. By-law you are entitled to anything which requires your signature
