Boy for sale

We (myself, 5 year old grandson) got up this morning intending to run some errands and take the car to the shop and the car was totally dead. Not a beep, honk, tweet, or even a click. Nothing, Nada. Got it? Good. Walk boy to Doctor appointment. Ten blocks, one way.

Got back to car, popped the hood and started looking at the electrical system. Ten year old Battery terminals were so corroded and rotten, they both slid right off without even having to twist them. One of them broke when I tried to remove the clamp nut. Great. Found the problem real quick. Should be quick fix.

Called my brother, Jerry. He came up, we went to Autozone and priced a set of battery cables for a 1998 ZX2. $159.99. Picked self up off floor. Was told it it was an ordinary little Ford escort, Cables would only be $59.99. Picked self off floor again.

Decided to install new terminal ends on existing cables. Spent a couple of hours in the hot sun trying to make things fit that weren't meant to without adequate tools and breaking the grounds trap for the interior instruments. Finally got it all Jerry rigged (no pun intended). Boy underfoot whole time.

Hopped in car to give it a try. Car was totally dead. Not a beep, honk, tweet, or even a click. Nothing, Nada. Got it? Good. Picked self up off parking lot. Thought about selling car.

For some reason looked up at the interior light in the car's roof. Switch was in the on position. Hadn't driven the car in a couple of days. Uh oh. Boy had turned the light on and left it. Picked boy up off parking lot. Thought about selling boy for first time.

Pulled battery from car and headed for WalMart. Battery was dead. So dead it couldn't be revived. Had to buy a new battery. Thinking about giving boy away.

Luckily still some warranty left on old WalMart battery, only paid half price. Boy off hook for now.

Boy picks WalMart to throw a major attitude display which resulted in corrective action on grandpa's part which led to full scale tantrum on boy's part. Picked boy up off floor. Back on hook. Now thinking seriously about paying someone to TAKE boy.

Bring battery home, install in car. Worked. Back on road. Day shot. No errands run. Out 45 bucks.

Ah yes, aint Grandkids great. The best part is unlike their parents you can just bring them back to their house. LOL Great story nofs.
