Totally agreed same in our store, so many whirlpool products coming up non sufficient or alleast ten day wait. Everyday you go in to so many problems. IT takes half the day to save the sales we have. This has to be done by a total team effort, these are really ticked off customers I have been dealing with one or two different delivery times cancelled/ Try to obtain Amana products too. Real challenge. So this might just be the reward program who knows.

Heard from a lead last night that the "awesome recognition program" will start on the 1st of September in our store...whatever that means.

Fast, Helpful, and In-Stock, only works if the company holds up its end of the deal, how many buyers are paid bonuses for keeping inventories down? 2 years ago my store was told to keep total store inventory under a certain point

When I started in Sears, New Brunswick, they had a huge stockroom which supposedly held 6 mos. worth of merchandise.
They would normally have over 100 washer & dryers in stock!

we have something in the breakroom, and associates are given cards when they do good. Personnally have not recieved one yet. I guess there is some sort of drawing that happens. Now I know in the past when they have done something like this the mgmt had a certain quota they had to give out.

No quota mentioned in my store. We were told we could hand them out to any employee who we saw doing a really great job. I think that box of cards could empty out quick! Immediatly I knew many people who deserve recognition. But all the cards get pooled together and the winners are drawn out. SOME recognition is at least better than NONE.

Well that is good that no quota has to be met. What are the prizes one can win? I really don't know much about it.

Those cards are for the profit express passes... the little green ones we hand out when we see someone doing a really good job or going out of their way for a customer or other employee.
Depending on the store the cards are usually put into a box in the break room and a drawing is held once a month, then the name drawn is sent into a regional drawing for Sears gift cards... I believe they're for $100.00 with a grand prize of $1000.00 gift card drawn nationally.
Some stores give smaller prizes for the drawings as well... such as movie passes or free lunches or gift cards or even something as simple as candy. It can be a great morale buster if run properly.
The down side is that very few stores run the program effectively. It's most often placed in the hands of the AP Lead even though it's supposed to be done by the store manager and mean a hell of a lot more coming from them. Also most managers and leads have a hard enough time just giving a verbal compliment, let alone having to write something out - that's just too much damn work.
The new program starts at the beginning of September and involves the store manager handing out little mints and pins that say "exceeding customer expectations" and also more post cards telling us how "awesome" we are. I heard that they're supposed to have our store's score on them... ratings based on how fast, helpful, and in stock we are. Translated for the management impaired that's percent to plan, profitability, PA's, and customer service scores.
All in all the program is a nice gesture and will hopefully be pulled off with some sincerity, but it's a poor substitute for regular recognition from management. IMHO.

the new program is gonna be crap...i personally got sick of stuff last year and started a program that took effect january first based on different aspects of performance...it is a positive points system...you earn a certain amounts of points for breaking different performance standards.
the top 20% of the associates are entered into a drawing at the end of the month for gift cards
at the end of the quarter, i add up the points and the top 20% at that time get to go to a store sponsered luncheon
we are doing this for BC and HI, and people seem to like it....it seemed as though i was the only one with enough initiative to do something like this...looks like th company is copying me and taking the credit

AP runs profits express. We were ordered to stop it one week after the recharge meeting. We're supposed to get the You're Awesome materials, but have not yet seen them. Now I cannot give associates anything but a thank you and a smile when they help me prevent loss.
