WHAT IF those low to mid level managers/YES men/women had veimently just said NO to things like budgets cuts or alterations, the removal of things like footballs, nuts & bolts, the conversionS,the POG,the 3 copy credit/return slip, the return or exchange with no name or reason required, the excessive addition of NON-Sears merchandise like a dozen or 2 of the same appliance or tool, the additional use of contractors, the "softer side" of Sears etc.All of these programs, policies or ideas started out as small talk or out loud thinking somewhere down the line but how did these things progress as far as they did for executive or board approval?.Or maybe that was the problem-they did not say NO and simply did sign off on proposed Sears policies ASSUMING it would be OK.OR did Sears always recruit mind numbed robots for their own means. This stuff didnīt happen over night, each problem has it root cause somewhere, somewhere where somebody FAILED to catch or fix it.What if... ?

What if.....
Say no at our level, and we would all be working somewhere else today.....no doubt about it.
Bikes lost money.
We are a tool store, not a hardware store.
Floor Covering lost money.
Get my drift?

Years ago we, some div 26 workers in my store (1314) were amazed that Sears survived despite themselves. If making dumbs decisions is Sears upper-level managements forte how could they succeed? It seemed they thought that loosing business was okay as long as you followed out-dated policies.

Who would want to say no to becoming Wal-Mart?
