It seems that someone screwed up by putting out the info about div 57 a month ahead of time. No one now will hear about it till sept 10 or so when they spring it on all of the folks. The sad part is most in company won't expect it and will be blindsided by it. Soon after, maybe 6 to 12 months, white goods will be next. Thats all thats left to cut. Sales are dropping anyway so they figure why pay more than needed to have a sales loss. Its like a sports team with a large payroll thats in last place or doesn't make the post season. Why pay a star player when you finish in last place with or without him. Thats sears today, sales losses with or without good people in the stores. take care

Is it possible to spring this whole 3/57 thing on all 10,000 of us just a week before it's supposed to start ?
We find that hard to believe ! Maybe they're just holding off on it all together or are in the process of changing their minds again ?

Or maybe Lacy's just waiting to hear from Lampert before he goes through with it ?

Remember this article from a previous post:

" Lacy, whom Sears says is in regular contact with Lampert, appears to be following a similar strategy. Consider the share buybacks. Analysts can't recall the retailer repurchasing $1 billion worth of shares in a single quarter before. What's more, the board has authorized another $1 billion buyback. And analysts expect Sears to use much of the $4.5 billion in aftertax proceeds from the credit sale to repurchase even more shares. Result: a stronger stock -- and a bigger stake for Lampert. "

Very Happy

I think its going to happen. They saw what Circuit City pulled off last winter and had this planned back in june. Remember how no div 57 people went with white goods during relaunch. Besides Store managers CAN NOT STAND the fact people make so much more money than they do in BC. None of them believe we deserve it. Off the record they all begrudge us our money. I just can't believe that we are getting screwed over going into 4th quarter. Its like we sucked it up during the slow times and now put the blade in our hearts going into christmas season. I wish all who are in process of having their lives flipped upside down the best. Don't wait to start looking and hope its not going to happen to you cause it is and there is nothing we can do.

I agree. I wish that they could have at least waited until we were able to make it after Christmas. But this is typical, they took the employees that were loyal and were with them through the slow times and now they are going to get rid of them. Just goes with their logic. D57 veterans would work most of the year setting up the departement for Christmas only to be told that Sears was going to flood the floor with part time seasonal help. Then when the money was all gone in Feb. or March, the part timers would be gone too leaving behind a mess for the veterans to clean up until next Christmas. Just goes to show you that Sears don't give a shit about their employess, so why should the employees give a shit about Sears.
