For those that were able to help me with my school assigment before the old site was discontinued, I offer much thanks. My group did an oral report on gay and lesbian issues. We were told we did well on our report.---Jbb

...Salutations JJB-- glad it went well...
Anyhow, how do you all feel about Target's wishy-washy "family" policy?
Case in point: does anyone else in thier store have a "political" book endcap? Upon further inspection you will notice that 99% of the books are right-wing conservative books. Nothing wrong with that, just that I am not seeing a Bill Maher or a Greg Palast book anywhere in the mix (not at my store anyhow).
Upon even further inspection, I see that we carry a book by Michael Savage, who was just fired from his MSNBC job for telling a gay called to get AIDS and die.
Why do we carry books that are by authors that are full of hate and sometimes even racism or sexist veiwpoints? I don't see any books by any klansmen or even LaVey (and I am not putting him next to a hate group because I think the 2 are connected), but apparently if you wear a suit and stand in front of the American Flag on your book cover, it is ok to write a book, become famous because of your anti-gay veiws and Target will carry it....
I understand that there is politically correct and then there is Wal-Mart insane cleanliness, but it seems Target walks an odd line with the book titles they choose to carry.
What message is this sending to our gay employees (whom our diversity policy swears to protect)?
