SHLD/ESL/Eddie may have bought HD stock as a simple prelude to a cross-marketing deal-that is HD would be able to sell Kenmore Appliances and Craftsman tools along with some automotive stuff.Just a rumor but a persistant one with the Craftsman Hand tools-Last quarterly report had Home Depot critized for old non moving lines of merchandise-cross selling might help. But buying stock in a company is how Eddie/ESL open the door for themselves.

This is what Eddie Lambert plans to do: Sell the Sears realestate to the ones that own the mall they are attached to (worth Billions). Then lease it back for only 5 years. The cash he receives from the realestate he then buys Home Depot. Already has enough cash flow to buy Home Depot but wilth the sale of realestate he now has a cash cow. He now can lease his trade marks...such as Kenmore and Craftsman to Home Depot. Home Depots format is what Sears is looking for. One stop shopping for all our home needs. Its a no brainer. Already asking the Small town Sears stores to opt out of the exclussions on Kenmore Big ticket items. Now he will have Kenmore and Craftsman in Sears, Kmart and Home Depot. How much do think those line will be worth to someone when he decides to sell the rights. Big Bucks!!!! It is going to happen and I bet within the next 3 years or sooner. Its all about money for Eddie and the share holders. If you think about this it truly makes since.

Is Eddie asking the hardware and dealer stores to give exclusivity to Sears trade names based on distance to another Sears or Kmart or give up exclusivity period?.

I was confused for a minute.... you said 'future', and I thought we were talking about Sears... then I woke up, and realized we are in the Home Depot board..... yah, they might still have a future!! And maybe Kenmore, too.

thats pretty much what i have heard also. lowes at one point was talking to lampert about selling kenmore appliances, but the deal fell thru. this was supposidly just after the sears/kmart merger 2 years ago.
the sears names of craftsman, kenmore and diehard are worth billions of dollars.

Is sears retarded to give up the few exclusive items that keep customers comming in to the store? This is the one thing keepping them alive and the reason they where #1 in appliance sales last year. What are you thinking Eddie???? Doh!

Since Sears is splitting up it's divisions the only place they seem to have money in is the real estate area. They won't be "buying" anyone out or even trying. They are splitting into 5 different divisions. Sears as you've known it in the past will remain in the past.
