This from the consumerist,a thread on merchandise that has increased in price but decreased in quanity. One of my favorites over the last couple of years has been bleach-they advertise a bottle that looks exactly like a one gallon jug except if you read the fine print it's usually 96 oz or even 60 oz but the price is frequently higher than a one gallon generic jug.And when this " transition " took place they were very sneaky about it.Same picture but different quanity and price-raised the 1 gallon price and made 96 oz the old one gal price. Now they're trying the samething with 60 oz.

Many other items as well, ice cream under any name used to be 1 gallon but now it's around 100 oz compared to 128 for 1 gallon.Watch your microwave popcorn at the dollar stores. It used to be 4 3.1 oz bags per box,now it's 4 2.8 oz bags per box.

Been through that many times. I remember when they doubled the price of a Hershey bar, they increased the size of the bar by 50%. Be surprised how many people didn't realize they'd just seen a 50% price increase.

My favorites include a 6 oz can of tuna that by the time you squeeze all the water or oil out of it is only half full. Didn't used to be that way. A 29 cent can of Tuna used to be damned near all fish. Now a $1.29 can of tuna is only half full. Go figure.

I think it is stupid to cut the trash bag count down by 4 measly bags and then raise the price, however i will ALWAYS stick with major brands when it comes to trash bags as I do not want to clean up a mess when the cheaper bags break, rip or get many holes in them

i'm still a fan of the Breyer's Peach, and their vanilla fudge twirl rocks my socks

but dammit - just make a gallon and charge what it takes to sell a freakin' gallon

if people will pay a ridiculous amount for Cherry Garcia (*raises fist to the sky and screams* "dammnn you Ben & Jerrrrrrrrry!") then they'll certainly pay for a gallon of the good stuff.
