Does anyone work in a store that is having one of the Corporate visits? If so, I wonder how it went after all the weeks of preparation and work. Some associates have been bitter over the hours spent making the stores look perfect for the visitors and think the corporate visitors should make surprise visits and see how it really is! What do you think?

In the past month we have had corporate visits both announced and unannounced. 9 out of 10 times we receive very positive feedback on the appearance of our store. The idea is that daily store standards and recovery should be consistently high.

Yes, I understand that the idea is to keep standards high. What I was referring to are the Corporate visits from the CEO, along with other high level management, to various stores. We also get regular visits from our DM and realize we are expected to keep the store looking good as possible at all times.

Yes, we had V along with a Divisional Home office team several weeks ago. It was a "learning in action". This past week we had a buyer and divisional marketing manager; the week before it was a divisional project manager. I am in a high potential store that has high level visits from home office associates, on average this year every 4-6 weeks. (Not located in Texas) We received A's and B's from V's team visit. The average was an A-. Yes, it was a lot of effort and long hours. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and can generate pride in a job well done.
The visits this week were unannounced. No, we were not to the standard of the extra hours we put in for V's visit, but the home office associates were very positive about what they saw. I think that we will see more unannounced visits as we go forward.
This is my response to how associates perceive the visits. I have worked in many situations and with people that challenged my ethics and core values in my career with this company. I do not take my job for granted nor do I take the position that this company (or any company) owes me something other than what I am paid. I take responsibilty for the choice in staying or leaving. I do not blame someone else. If the company decides they no longer need me, then that is their choice. If I decide it is no longer worth it, then that is my choice. The world doesn't revolve around me, I am part of the world.

I heard that the CEO visits in Tennessee did not go well.
Any comments?
