Hey, I am new to Lowes and wonder how old are these Store
Managers? Has anyone seen one over the age of 55? The one I have seems 15! I don't want an old guy but would like the SM to be mature! How old is your SM I am in the GA, AK, TN, region. |

Energetic?  Nah. You need to be willing to bow to the "master" and take a beating. If you are young enough, the money sounds good at such a young age. Then when you are sucked into the rat race, you are in deep enough not to be able to get back out. More "mature" managers (as you call it) would be able to think for themselves, figure things out on their own and not be able to be whipped into submission like the young ones. Just as in the military, it is a stat that young soldiers will take more of a chance the older soldiers because they are fresh and gun ho.

| You may be right about the "bowing to" and taking the DM's abuse but I have had managers in their 60's at JC Penneys who were valued for their knowledge and could outwork 30 year olds. I didn't think Lowes discriminated against age. The handbook says they "protect" the over 50 group. Guess I won't encourage my Mom to apply at Lowes! | |

50's range I think seems like it...it depends though. I've seen people barely 18 all the way up to 82 working in stores...
It's a odd mix. I had a coworker in her late 60's that probably couldn't lift a ladder but yet she could stopstock and downstock tons of things easily. All I really know is sm's don't make that much. If you can get a bachlors you can easily make more than a sm. I personally know an enginner that made 2x as much as an old sm I had (although he's taking a significant cut now...he worked his butt off for a down payment on a house and a wedding in the carribean) even with the cut he STILL makes more than what the old sm was making. Lowes might pay well in low wage and low cost of living areas but for the rest of america it struggles. There's hardly any new stores and the only way to move up is to move out. |

wow, I did't think those three states were even close to being in the same region. did you forget AL an MS? maybeee FL? where are you exactly?? Georgia, Arkansas, or Tennessee? |
