I had worked for Lowes for a year and a half. I became team leader then offered dept mgr of a new store opening up in what was my district. I recently quit due to the fact that lowes became, for me, boring and unfulfilling. The whole district would never reach sales, the managers were all home depot rejects sorry to say.

There wasn't many customers, and the ones that were there were a pain in the ass. The managers tried to get away with a lot, but ofcourse when the district manager was there they acted professional and open to questions. Overall just boring boring boring.

I saw a lot of people end up with back problems etc. Even myself who worked in seasonal after one year my back was really killing me.

I think lowes has great potential, but a lot managers take the easy way out by bullying associates etc and not following company guidelines... a lot of people commented its too much of a ''home depot effect'' because a lot of the management indeed came from depot.

Just wondering, have you found anything better? In rural Ohio, boring is a step up compared to the few crap local factory jobs. Lets see....there is the metal stamping company where most workers are missing 2-4 fingers, the pig plant loading 60lb boxes on pallets non-stop, the textile factory that handles all the soiled materials from hospital surgeries and nursing homes, the plastic bottle company that works 80 hours a week in a plant thats always about 100+ degrees. Heck, even when I lived in California it wasnt much better. With the sky high mortage payments, car insurance ect....your about one paycheck away from being homeless. As if doing anything you actually liked that made enough money to cover all the bills was even an option.
