What does it mean when someone is fired and you are walked out of the store? Does it mean the HR manager and zone manager calls you into his or hers officer then tells you your fired and then walks you to the locker room to take your belongings and then at this point walks you to the exit door and tells you to never return?

Is that how it usually works?

The reason I mentioned this because an associate yesterday was walked out and so was an associate today. Also I heard a few more associates will be let go in the next few days because our store manager is transferring to another store.

It means management feels the person will be a problem for other employees or destroy stuff.

If management is walking out employees the way they are, they need to cut payroll.

It's typical for employers to "show" employees to the door. What this proves I have no idea, the employee could turn right back around and come in another door. Rolling Eyes

I have once heard that our store called the local authorities to be at the store during the termination process. I guess they felt this person would have become more than a handfull when being shown the door. Surprised

When anyone is terminated the process is that they are not allowed to return to their work station. They are walked to the locker room to gather their belongings and then escorted out the main exit. For others looking around it means that the person was fired. This does not mean that they are a threat to anyone just that their services are no longer needed. The terminated employee could try to steal stuff or damage merchandise that is why they are escorted through the store. Some people just don't accept responsibility for their actions. No one that is a hardworking employee following all of the rules ever gets terminated unnecessarily. When a person is fired they have exhibited bad behavior or made a poor choice. It may take management a while to build a case against the employee. This often makes the employee feel that they are under the radar. They are not. None of us are.

This is definately the termination season. We've had a few this past week. Cleaning house I say is what upper management is doing. Purging the workforce so that they can trim those hours easier next month.
