ive been working at rona for almost a year and a half now.. and have even become machine trained..

and i still get paid the minimum.. cashiers in training make the same as i do.. when i ask for a raise they say they have to follow a dam shedule.. so much for showing loyalty to those that work hard and have been around..

i warn all of you to stay away and to not work at rona..

Yea, they always tell you that you'll get more money when you become machine trained. It never happens my friend.

Just follow proper machine safety rules. Two spotters at all times and banner off the aisles like crazy. Oh and be sure to take extra long searching for a safety vest if you cant find one on the machine Thumbs Up

Reduce productivity! With the serious lack of capable drivers I'm assuming you have at your store you may frustrate them enough to see your side but I doubt it.

IIRC, spotters must also be trained and certified. Make sure you aren't using unqualified spotters Wink

Well if that's true that pretty much prevents anyone from using any machinary at my store... there's usually only one or two drivers on at any given time! Razz

Probably don't quote me on what I said regarding spotters. I am about 90 percent sure that's the case though.

Consult your Rona Handbook, or ask your HR person to check on that for you. They would have access to all of that information.

I spoke with our machine trainer today and he was all flustered when I asked. Apparently they do need to be "spotter certified"
which isnt quite machine certified but you were on the right track kava Smile

well then, no machines without "spotter certified" spotters! Oh, and make sure you don't do any spotting either if you're not "spotter certified" Wink

Well at least at my store you don't need to be spotter certified to be a spotter. They just hand out a handbook you read and sign and that's it.

Are you sure of that?
See nobody at my store tells us these things because it would make for a very unproductive work place. In fact even when I asked about it they were reluctant to tell me.

I would imagine Rona has pretty consistant safety rules throughout the company. Actually is it even Rona that sets them? Wouldnt it be WCB?

Well i'm sure of that in my store, because i don't have any spotter certification, neither does many of my colleagues, and we've been chosen to spot various times. We just put on an orange vest, and hold up a sign that says "This aisle is temporarily closed blah ablha blah, n watch da forks to make sure nothing else is falling, and that's it.

Just because thats the way it goes on in your store doesnt mean thats the way its supposed to go Wink

You should see my store.. usually only around 50% of the staff use a safety vest or spotter, nobody wears a seatbelt on the forklifts, and there is NO safety commitee. Safety is the LAST priority.. its very sad. Thats what happens when the store manager doesnt want to hire enough staff to run the departments though.

i have seen managers talk on cell phones, not wearing a vest, while driving machines.. isles never get blocked off..

my store doesnt even have enough store use vests for the machines.. you can spend quite a while looking for vests.. i wrote off my own vest so i dont waste hours looking for one.

Only use that one for emergencies! Every other time, make sure you do the hunt around the whole store looking for a safety vest.

At my store, the aisle just needs to be closed off for use of the JLGs, no spotters are required when the JLG has been moved into the place it will be used.

Yes how true but in our store we are now putting cheps up sideways on the 16 ft which is wrong. Also to many pallets not properly stacked

i couldnt count the amount of chep pallets put up sideways, or front ways for that matter.. if i remember correctly you not supposed to have a chep uptop period.. they over hang most isles by 6 inches

I'm pretty sure you're right on that. In fact, isn't only supposed to be "rona" pallets up top now?

The complexity of the functions of tasks performed at RONA intimidates me so I will not add to this thread...its been so long since I had to stack blocks I mean I wasnt even out of diapers yet..I leave the high-level discussion to the experts
