I can't say I'm surprised nor do I have any sympathy for the old Sears Guard. There the ones that got us into this mess in the first place.Product Services-nah,no PA push there.
Must say though, something's is up.You had LKs store coach leaving or getting fired at the end of the 2nd Q now you have this manager leaving at the end of 2Q.The ESL crew must be monitoring the stats quarter to quarter now, before you know it will be day to day.
I still stunned at the gall of many of the old Sears Guard who thought they could hack Eddie. They probably never been with the company or the company that under went major changes or went throught down sizing and cutbacks.

Sears' home services executive leaves
| Quote: |
Sears Holdings Corp.'s home services chief Mark Good plans to leave the company effective Friday.
The Hoffman Estates-based company announced Good's departure in a memo sent to employees on Tuesday, according to company spokeswoman Kimberly Freely.
As executive vice president and general manager of the home services business, Good ranked as one of the last top-level executives from the old Sears regime. Most of the senior executives running Sears today hail from Kmart Corp., which bought Sears in 2005, or were brought in from outside the company after the merger. |
Must have been lonely sitting around there in the midst of an array of bean counters.

Sears gave no reason for Good's departure and declined to make him available for comment, saying only that the company expects to announce a new leader for the home services business in the very near future, according Freely.
Sears has experienced an exodus of top executives since last year, including most recently, Lands End chief David McCreight, who took the No. 2 post at Under Armour Inc. in July and Kmart chief marketing officer Bill Stewart, who left in June to work on a campaign to protect gay marriage in California. |

"Sears Holdings Corp.'s home services chief Mark Good plans to leave the company effective Friday"
On a side note- His exact quitting time Friday will be sometime between 8:30am and 4:30pm, in keeping with Product Services scheduling standards.

The Home Services business is worth absolutely nothing without a strong captive HA business. All the profit is in salesfloor protection agreements. Paid service calls don't even cover fixed cost and the aftermarket protection agreements are, at best, break even because the products are older and the supplier warranty is no longer in place to shield part of the risk.

"declined to make him available for comment", eh? Looks alike it's going to be another one who takes the hush money and runs.

Nofs-take the hush money.
Yeap, sounds like offers you can't refuse are being passed out.
voice brought up a good point about the HA PA business but I think the problem is more people are using it.And I would to being the prices they charge are high enough not to forget and create high expectations. The complaint boards are becoming littered with service complaints trending up since about 06,I even heard complaints from service and customer as early as 04.
That's what happens though when you base your profit on the premise that no one will actually use the service your selling. Then if you don't price call in service correctly it's very easy to disappoint. The complaints I hear from customers leans twards lack of training and experience which not only can mess things up but slow things down even though the job is being done correctly.

HA share loss aside, they could have a nice, highly profitable business in Home Services that also devlivers very high levels of service to customers. However, what they have been doing is:
- raising prices
- cutting cost
so that they could extract even more profit from the business while screwing over the customer and destroying the brand in the process.
In other words, they got greedy and have milked it way too far. Basically, the Sears Way.

One thing that service did or that the MPA now covers is SOME commercial use(which is another problem).
In other words you have residential customers in a sense subsidizing a business's repair budget. And businesses will be even more likely to use service more so than a private residence.Commercial repairs by the same service fleet used to service private residents drains resources.
voice is right;they are milking the PA TO THE BONE.In more ways than one.
