I don't know about my stores hours except that they open at 5..
My hours for Black Friday are terrible. 4:45 AM - 3:00 PM. I'm part of the support team so I get to Fluff and Fold for 11 hours.. and I have no idea what the hell fluffing is.

5 AM opening for Herald Square. Several 7-12's for the patients at Bellevue Hospital. Just before CHRISTmas, the store will be open 24 hours again. I wonder if we will be calling the morning specials rollbacks. I heard there were customers shopping with strollers in the middle of night last year. I don't care if James Dean is shopping in the store. I will not come to shop with a baby in the middle of the night.

I hope to god that no other Macy's follows suit with the 24/7 concept. I just wouldn't do it without extra hazard pay.

WHY do people need to shop 24/7???? I think Macy's should do an experiment, and see how much they save/make by only being open regular hours, WHEN PEOPLE ACTUALLY SHOP!

We opened at 7am today. I did not see a customer until 10. They are crazy with these extended hours especially in this economy. What makes them think if we can't do business at 3 in the afternoon that we are going to do it at 7AM or 11PM???

Got my first customer right after opening at seven. She wanted to know about this one pair of boots that we had shown in our ad. She did not have the ad. She left it in her car.
Do I have an ad for her?
Yes, I have a sale ad.
No, this is not the right ad. My ad looks different.
This is our current sale ad. Are these the boots?
Yes.
Sorry, we only have one size 7.5 in tan left, and no sizes left in the black.
No size 7 in black?
No.
No size 7.5 in black?
No.
No size 7.5 in tan?
One size 7.5 in tan left.
Could I try on the black in size 7 to see how it would fit in tan?
????????????????????????????????????
Uh... The size 7.5 in tan is the only one left. No sizes in black. No size 7 in tan.
Would you check other stores to ---
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Black Friday, I had a man come to me with a piece of colored paper on which he had cut out PICTURES from the ads and taped. So....there's no date, no name of the store that made the ad, no way to tell what the heck at what I am looking!

MAYcylady I found the ad from Jordan Marsh for Chanel No. 5 for $19.99 for a 3.5 oz bottle with free gift. Will you honor it? What about one from Mass Brothers? Hecht's? Burdines?

I KNOW!!! Then he was arguing with me and showing me the picture, and I'm thinking to myself "WHO DOES THIS???". Finally, I hunted down a sale catalog and gave it to him. But he liked his version better.

What's up with customers arguing anyway. Every time they ask me if I have something and I say no, they begin this whole scenario of, YOU DON'T, WHY NOT, ARE YOU SURE, IT SAYS RIGHT HERE, I SAW IT IN THE PAPER, YOU USED TO HAVE IT,
WELL WHO HAS IT THEN?????????? They act like you are lying about what merchandise you have. If I had the freakin thing I would tell you!!!!

I don't know why they get mad at us when we don't have something. I went to Toys'r'us today, and they were out of every single thing that I was looking for. What did I do? I went home! I didn't fuss at the salespeople.
I did get irritated later when I went to the dollar store and the girl at the register was talking on her phone with her earpiece in her ear. The lady in front of me said to her "Don't work too hard." I didn't know what she meant until it was my turn and the girl talked the whole time. She even said to the person on the other end, "I'm not going to get in trouble, I've got my earpiece in". RUDE!!!

Man, this pushes a button.
My first customer yesterday was a foul-tempered lady. She had bought an item from our competitor down the mall and wanted to try on the same thing in a different color, here. She wanted to know if we matched prices, so I told her that as long as it was an in-stock item and if she could provide proof of the other store's sale price from an ad or something, then I could see about getting her the deal she wanted.
While I was saying this, she pursed her lips disgustedly and blinked like a slow squirrel. She huffed and puffed about having to go to her car to get her receipt and made a big deal about having to walk ALL THE WAY OUT TO THE PARKING LOT. She eventually got the receipt, but it turned out that the item she wanted the better price on was the .... uh.... NICER VERSION of the one she bought at the other place. We didn't have the apples-to-apples equivalent of what she purchased, so I told her I couldn't help her in matching prices.
NO, I specifically had to explain to her. THESE ARE NOT THE SAME TWO ITEMS. THAT'S WHY ONE'S FIFTY BUCKS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE OTHER. NOT ALIKE.
She gave me the most ridiculous, blank look I've ever seen. Like I had just cursed her grandmother in Turkish or something. (You would have been mesmerized by her impossibly feathered 1976 hairstyle and her elegant eyebrows, by the way. They looked like they were created in chocolate frosting using a Wilton #4 cake decorating tip.)
She just stood there. Seriously. She just. stood. there. Thinking ahead, I had already checked to see if the store across town would have the item. Sure, they did. I told her this. I could call and have them held for her for a day or two, or purchased over the phone and ready at package pickup.
THAT won't work, she scowled. She couldn't get over there until Friday. (?????) Why couldn't she just have the nicer ones for the same price as the cheaper ones, today?
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy nooooooooooooootttt!!!??
I just wanted to lean over the counter and say, "Ma'am, I am not going to let you and your nasty-ass eyebrows mess with my day like this. You are not going to whine. You're not going to cheat Macy's the way you hoped to. You're going to pick up your ugly LV knockoff bag and turn around and march yourself out of this store. And you're not going to come back until you learn how to behave yourself like a responsible grownup. Have an outstanding day."

What gets me is that customers don't read the fine print in the flyers. Not all merchandise available at all stores. end of argument. "Why don't you have Sean John for toddlers?" Demographics, all demographics. No we don't have a shoe department for kids, no raingear for kids, no ties, no baptism outfits. (we have a small store)
Then these people shop at the very last minute for Christmas dresses, we don't have the size, and then they expect us to pull it out of our asses because they were too lazy to get the dress or any other item when they saw it two months ago! I always tell the customer, "If you see it get it because you might not see it when you come back!"
