I need some input from you on this ticklish subject. We have in our store a few employees who get away with murder. The "Return Desk" cashier reads and eats at the register, doesn't perform the tasks expected of and are done by the rest of the cashiers. Whenever someone gets on her case ( a head cashier or other front end management) she runs right into the HR office. It's gotten really out of control so everyone is afraid to cross her. (be-otch that she is).
The other is the PSA department manager who takes long lunches and sits on her ass most of the day. She also goes to the HR manager who fixes her "missed punches" and causes trouble for others whenever the mood strikes.
It's quite tempting to go over the HR and SM heads to the next level up but I think I'd be the one getting the boot.
Any ideas???

How does the actions of these two people affect the way that you perform your job? Life isn't fair get used to it! If you are not a direct report of either of these people it isn't any of your business. Stay out of it and mind your own business.

Why would you concern yourself with what other associates in your store do if it doesn't affect you or impact your job duties? Some managers are a-holes. Not only at Lowe's but everywhere. Better get used to it if you want to survive making a living.

Don't worry, HR managers at the store level are just about to be a thing of the past. Lowe's isn't getting it's value at the current ratio of one per store.

The responses were a mixed bag. Yes the actions of both of the employess have impacted my worklife because I've been a target of both. They're trying to divert attention from themselves by blowing others in.
For the couple folks who think I'm fresh out of school...think again. I've been working for over 40 years and have never seen so many sacred cows like there are at our store. I hope the rest of the stores are not like this....actually I'm sure they are not.

But you do not report to these people? They do not report to you? If you're doing your job functions correctly their "blowing" won't have any substance.

Don't be so sure. In every aspect of life there are favorites. Remember back in grade school? There were favorites had by the teacher and perhaps even in your family. I know there were in my family. It's how you chose to handle the situation that shows your character. Don't allow the actions of a few determine how you perform your job. With so much work experience under your belt I would think that you have skin thick enough to just ignore these childish antics of others. Just keep your head up and keep doing your job correctly. I have always found that by pointing fingers at others you have 3 pointing back at you. You're only responsible for you. No matter how unfair you may it is that the others are getting away with something. Keep in mind, what goes around comes around. It's not for you to even get involved. Rise above it rather than get involved in the mudslinging that will ineviatably occur.

I think this is a problem in a lot of stores and a lot of companies for that matter. Our Dept. manager PSA comes in late one to three hours every day and he gets away with it.
