Started slow in the morning, VERY slow, SPOOKY slow.....and the managers seemed a-bit tense. Funny how contagious their stress can be, they sure know how to spread it around!! Apparantly the community was just sleeping in --- around 11:00 am it really picked up. We had 4 registers going in the garden center. Its hard to tell, but it did seem busier than an "average" Saturday. Haven't seen any numbers yet, though.

We have OT approved this weekend so Im working tomorrow which I was scheduled off, Im pretty excited to get an opportunity to make some extra cash for a change. Since it almost NEVER happens (overtime) I try to take advantage of it when I can.

How about everybody else? Hows it going so far?

Garden Center was hopping, thats for sure. a mix from throughout, not just the red/white/ and blues. ISLG and OPE were having pretty good days also.
I think the ad this year was really good, seemed to have a good mix for the whole store.

Insanely busy at my store today. The customers were pretty much crabby. I can't believe that they'd be so mean to some of our associates. One new guy was calling a sister store because he couldn't find what we needed to get the customer. He gave me the "help me" look from across the aisle. I went over to help him out and jumped onto lowes.com to get an item number for the thing the customer wanted. Well, the customer starts yelling "why couldn't hejust get online?" I let him know that he was brand new to Lowe's and that as it is he is on the phone with the store down the street that had that item for him. He stormed off. The associate (an elderly man) felt so bad about being yelled at by the weasle customer. I tried to let him know that it isn't us it's the customers inability to find what they need at our store.

I'd say, 98% of my time is spent in like 3 or 4 different counties making deliveries, and knowing how well the store is doing is by judging how many customers I run over in the parking lot coming back in. Very Happy I tell ya, it was a mad house yesterday. It was like the Secretary 250!

We started off our morning meeting with all the usual number talk about how 6 million dollars was possible in one day and all we have to do is stay customer focused. Guess they forgot our town and all the surrounding small towns had graduation until afternoon. Having graduation parties afterwards didn't help the matter. All in all, I think we pulled it out and posted some decent numbers.

Missed budget by about $2,000 Saturday and it looks like we fell way short yesterday. Seriously, who the hell thinks we can sell $600,000 in 3 days when the majority of the business is in Lawn and Garden?

Oh yea...i'm sure. Next weeks budget will be 47 million. Of course that will be pretty easy as long as the two associates covering 8 different departments toss in a little WOW customer service.
