I have been at Lowes for a year and have yet to get my review. I suppose it's up to me to get it ?!? I have been asking for it but nothing and there is no increase in my paycheck since the year anniversary

poorgirl- It's not up to you to have your review done it's up to management to get it done by your review "cycle" date. It could be over a year depending on the cycle group you are in. ie: the people hired around the same time you were and LOA's who fell back into your cycle because of their time off and possible others for various reasons not important here. All of you,as a group, have a review due date. Lets just say Oct 7, 06 because they are usually done quarterly and you just fall into one quarters deadline date. The HR's responsibility is to make sure all these revues are done and input by that date or they get a black mark. Some companies are real sticklers for on time reviews (Home Depot) and some are not. It is not fair to the employee to go on for too long without a review because they don't know how they are doing on their job without this input. Not to mention the raise aspect. I am sure the district managers are on top of this, but will not say much to the SM until the reviews are late. This is part of the SM's review criteria, and a big one along with all the other HR metrics: turnover rate, training compliances, safety, etc. You actually hold the "hole" card by not signing the review(because you disagree with the raise amount or the critque verbage). This is a dangerous game to play, but can cause enough panic to earn you a little respect if you play it right. The key is knowing the exact review cycle deadline and holding out until the last day. They may change things you don't like or not, but they will be very happy you signed. There is always the input w/o your signiture and this is illegal of course, but it happens and who will ever know if you quit or are fired for, say, attendence or some other managerial "tool". Ah... the power of evil HR. Stay in school.
I hope I helped

Your HRM is your go to person here. Ask them for the date of your last review. If it has been over a year, ask them why. While your zone or dept mgr is responsible for actually administering the review, the HRM is the one that should be tracking it. Sounds like you have a lazy one.
