I've been checking out all the Lowe's message boards and since the e-mail to the stores earlier in the week the messages have dropped to nearly nothing, did it have the effect they wanted?

I have been viewing this forum for a long time, and have finally decided to post. I believe that the dreaded e-mail (which I have filed at home for legal purposes) has had somewhat of an effect on people here.

Oh yeah, I think this is illegal, as the e-mail stated, but the Lowe's stock price at closing on 8/01/03 was at $47.00.

Sorry expaintpro what you stated in your message can be found on any newspaper or buisness station in the united states. What wold be illigale is disclosing personal company information. Selling trends of a store or the company in whole, future selling stratagies(promotions), or any financial numbers that would inform people information that would influence our stock(insider tradeing) which is a felony offence. You all are blowing this way out of perportion. If you stick to your normal problems that you experience at your job there shouldn't be a problem with our chats that we have.
Besides if everyone here knows that "Big Brother" is viewing these why not ask them directly to respond and inform us exactly what would be considered against company policy, just in case I missed something in my explanation.

The fact is Rblblood that they don't want us on here period, no matter what we say. It's like one of my ASM's once told me (if you don't have anything good to say, it's best to keep your mouth shut), so it's not just the secret stuff they don't want you to talk about, they don't want anything negetive said about Lowe's. If they screw over you you're supposed to except it and move on. Like i said in another message, everything mentioned in the e-mail you can find on a bussiness web site everyday, the e-mail was an attempt to scare employees from posting anything on the message boards.

I agree with Cabinetman. Lowe's doesn't want us here at all. What makes this any different from getting together in a coffee shop or to play pool? Do they think we don't discuss these things at employee baby showers? The same subjects would come up. We are not disclosing any information sensative to the general public or competitors, just info they don't want employees to know. Don't be afraid to find out the truth. There's safety in numbers.......

Rblblood, I do understand most of the topics that were mentioned in the e-mail, but also the message said we could not discuss Lowes stock price. I do agree with GO for the other topics that they added in the e-mail, but stock price is public knowledge, and according to the message, we could be reprimanded or even terminated if we discuss stock price.
