OK,
Beginning Monday a store that I am connected to will be going through Remerchandising.

Have others here been through this and if so have any advice/comments/etc?

FYI, the remerch in question will be fairly extensive:

-New Customer service area and checkouts including the addition of self-check out
-Entire new layout for paint department
-New layout for Seasonal
-2 Departments will switch locations
And of course everything will be tweaked, new signage, new paint, new displays etc

I know of a few stores that have - not me personally. If you'd like, I can give you a contact name and a store # of someone who could help you better understand.

Thanks,

I actually have a pretty good handle on it, am just interested in people's personal experiences-things to watch for.

Really just hoping to spark some discussion other than the screaming.

I did one last year it was pretty good. I don't think seasonal changed...paint is far better though.

Hardware wasn't touched and neither was outside seasonal.

Building materials got a new desk area and was really cleaned. New sos displays for plumbing.

This is also a good thing to have in terms of before a inventory...definatly a good thing for the winter. Sales will be lower for awhile.

A TON of stuff is going to be clearanced out. If you were looking to buy something wait until you see what is leaving.

It should be about ten or so weeks. They won't (usually) do any work on the weekends. I was on the day crew I'm not sure how the nights were. You might see some interesting power equipment such as a more advanced picker (has fans!?!) don't put any equipment on "rabbit"

Definatly be alert and aware of what's going on because it's like steelset in the fact that beams and racking will be moving around. Just because one of the crew can do something doesn't mean you can. You might want to ask if the price audit has to be done before it because with labels pulled it might not have to be...ultimatly it moves from one end of the building to another. There will be a trailer for all the trash...probably three of them...

From what I understand they are done (usually) every five years in a store.

Your cations sound like reasonable ones and your process sounds similar to the one I'm sort of going to be part of. The one here must be a bit larger in scope. You mentioned 5 trailers for trash and they already have 18 and are waiting for 2 more.

Thanks for the input!

Remerch starts Monday
