These dumb bastards couldn't see a freight train if it ran their butts over. All they can see is the bonus check tied to the numbers that some freakin idiot at G O said that we need to do in order to make projection! What the hell are they trying to pull? Cut labor hours, piss on customer service, and make damn sure you don't get O/T! Our store has the same sh-t going on.Almost every dept. has a late opener then a closer. Three depts. have only 1 person all day for the labor day weekend. I would really chuckle if the stockholders sued the greedy bastards for mismangement. This smells more and more like Enron everyday. Big freaking bonuses for the fat cats at the top and bird feed for the working stiffs. The cats cash out at every chance so that when the house of cards collapses at least they got their share. Well just my perspective on this hell-hole of a company. Have a great week-end and remember you're working for one of America's 100 worst companies to work for. From 1st to worst in 3 short years.

Y'know, folks, this scares me. Is every Lowes store going through the same changes that we all bitch about, here? Can it be possible that Lowes has redirected itself toward what Depot has deteriorated into - Home Dumpster? in so short a time? It is scaring me - the daily environment is awful. Morale has evaporated - people are grumpy, stressed, don't care - they are losing their PRIDE, that intangible that IMO is worth $5.00/hour. I hate to see it.
I've never seen this store such a dump, the ordering and receiving and stocking process so screwed up - its so difficult, and MESSY!!! Have any of you spoken to RDC folks lately? It sounds even worse, in those facilities. Talking to store managers about it reaches a deadend - you get "well, that's the way it is..." There seems to be no PRIDE in that segment of the population. They seem totally CYA - keep this job, do as little as possible, stay out of sight, maybe get transferred and promoted ....IMO, most of the managers couldn't run a gas station.
So - What is happening??? what do we do about it? Just lay there and take it? Frequent customers are asking about it - give them Comment cards, the tele# for the DM and GO. Speak up at meetings - politely and professionally ask if we can add resources (manhours) to certain tasks (that list of FUNDAMENTAL stuff we used to take for granted - the tasks listed on the back of the worklist forms, for example).

Today is Saturday, and I just got home. Opened at 6am, nobody in toolworld all day, one in millwork, two in plumbing, and one in electrical...I had hardware and tool world until 1pm by myself, had to help out in millwork, and kept having to answer the call button at the saw. IT was not a slow day, we were at 45plus by 10am. Going to be the same tomorrow as well.
I've only been with Lowes for five months, and was hired at a ridiculous wage, with a promise that I would receive a substantial increase after my 90 days....whoopee wopping $.23 an hour, even after I received an exceptional STAR report or whatever it is called. I told my store sales manager that obviously since it was such a small sum, that Lowes evidently needed the money more than I, so to please take the raise back..then I told him not really, it was such an insult, take it back. He just stood there and looked at me.
Now they want me to get licensed on the star wars and cherry picker..which isn't going to happen. I normally am by myself every day until 2pm, who has time to leave the department and start driving equipment for other departments?
On a positive note, word of the pending class action has started to circulate...hmmm wonder how that happend....there are going to be ALOT of current employees opting in.
Hope all of you had a better day, and sorry for venting so long.

Sounds just like my store. One person per dpt if your lucky.
2 till colse with no help and my ASM comes over and told me that we needed to get this and that and then do this and then do that. I just looked at him and said we who? and walk away.
Its funny they can have 3 older men who cant climb a ladder working day shift cant run a picker or star wars so the freight sits on the floor till 2pm and then they just leave it for me to do. I have put up with this mess for 3 years now. I really dont see how I can do it much more.

Way back in 93 when I first applied, the main thing that attracted me was the "Top 100" list, and it was a really great place to work. Sorry to see those days gone, if there is "Worst 100" list I am sure we would be on it.
I also had a lot of pride in the work I performed and in my store, and believed if Lowes ever came up with a campaign of having an "All- Star Team" I would definitely be on the roster. Now I can honestly say "Frankly my dear, I just don't give a damn".
It is such a shame that these guys don't see the big picture, it makes me wonder what our numbers and stock prices would really look like if our stores had the proper coverage to assist the customers and encourage more sales.
I won't even get into how bad the place looks, but I will say we seriously need a "Task Force" to come in to start putting things back together.
If there is anyone out there listening and monitering, if you have any pull at all, PLEASE do something, get us the help we need, stop coming down on the people that have been loyal and hard-working for you, don't take away their priviledges, we have had enough taken away already. If you find that its not working you can always pull the plug, cuz personally I don't want to see it get any worse.

There is no way you can run a store with 1 or 2 people per department.
How big is this store?
In my electrical department there is me, my team leader, 2 specialists and 4 CSA's. I made dam sure we had coverage, and if I forsee that someone would for some ungodly reason have to work at ANYTIME by themselves, I will haul ass to the store!!!!
Thats just the way I am. I am sorry you guys are having coverage issues, hell, transfer to #606 :)

One guy in tools last week 9-6.
Next day the Closing ASM sends all but 1 in each dept home at 6pm, we close at 9. Even sent the loaders home (all of em) then they want to know why we have to stay till 12 te get even close to looking good in our dept.

Delivery, which has been a total nightmare for months, had only 1 driver - no riders (usually riders are snagged off the salesfloor, and the dept. mgrs. get chewed out because it results in lack of coverage on Fri., or worse - overtime - DUH!)
So the new solution - cancel/postpone deliveries, put that driver on as a cashier (cashiers have been virtually all laid off - another DUH! - who is paid more per hour? who actually can perform better as cashier?). How many customers do we have to piss off? I heard from an acquaintance who works over there that our competitors picked up some sales from that day.
Must be the impact of Mars being too close to Earth - managers are getting spaced.
