It's a funny thing about retail. People come and people go when it comes to staff. Some people wisen up and learn that the pay does not equal to the hassle. Others just take it as given to them.
I love the quote I heard once by a Lowes Manager.
"You are here to replace those who were fired/quit before you....and one day we will be replacing you"
Think about that statement for a moment and just imagine why the turnover rate is so high. Do you think its because its because of the great benefits lowes doesn't offer. Or maybe the fact that the pay doesn't reflect the amount of BS you have to take.
You get a fork lift license its great and all. But do you get a raise? NO! Lowes won't give you a raise for that. Go to a warehouse and you will easily make double than you make at lowes.
Safety issues with Pickers. Do you get a pay increase for operating that equipment? NO! Its a safety concern however none that they care about.
I once heard a rumor of a guy falling off and cracking his skull open. He was fired for misuse of equipment. Go figure. After all it was his fault for doing his job!
Well lowes get's what they pay for. Low prices = low wages.
Keep your jobs that you have. Don't listen to someone who has been in your shoes. You get one life to live don't waste away your years working retail. You will grow tired from the countless hours of torment.
Afterall all I try to do is open your eyes.

I have to disagree with the statement about working retail is a waste of time. I've worked more than 5 years in retail and then worked as a machinist for the past 2. I'll take the retail work over the factory work any day! And the pay isn't that much different, I started LOWER as a CNC machinist than I was making as a sales person (with no commission) I'm looking forward to getting back into retail and the pay (at least around here) is pretty competitive. I'm actually starting out for more money at Lowes than I left my last as a CNC 2 on 3rd shift

There are always flukes to every pay scale. Don't tell to many people.

Lowes has a salary/pay cap per position. Once you reach your salary cap its out with the old in with the new in experienced.
